iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I've also been fighting this notification issue for months on my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple no help. I discovered that turning off bluetooth on my phone fixed the problem (allowed text notifications to sound and appear, whether the phone was locked or not). But with bluetooth on, notifications only sounded & appeared with the phone unlocked. Obviously, I didn't want to leave bluetooth off all the time.

I also came to realize this issue started when I got a new Apple Watch 6 a few months ago. Coincidence? Taking the watch on and off didn't help. And with the watch on, it didn't sound notifications either.

But the posting from StubbornPixie got me thinking about killing the mirror function on the watch for the Messages app. So, iPhone Watch app>Messages>"Custom" "Notifications Off" seems to have SOLVED THE PROBLEM for me. My iPhone 11 Pro now notifies me of incoming text messages with bluetooth on. I realize my watch won't ping with messages until Apple fixes the root problem, but at least I won't be missing message notifications altogether.

Hope this helps others.

I’ve tried being part of the beta program, and they give you the “feedback” app and I’ve literally never seen or heard Apple take any of the “smaller” issues into consideration.

My brother also got a new phone for a gift, literally yesterday (iPhone XR -> 11) and he’s the person I didn’t see the message from. So i kind of assumed maybe his new phone hasn’t been completely set up or something. But I also haven’t gotten text notifications in banner style from any of my other family members all day. I have gotten push notifications though, which is why I thought it was just my brother.

I do have previews turned off in lock screen unless my phone is unlocked so i kind of thought maybe it was that?

Of course, literally the ONLY text notifications I have gotten today that have bannered, pushed, and shown up in my lock screen are from “unknown” numbers or recurring texts messages (e.g., D2L texting me when my grade is updated.)

So, Apple’s move next I suppose.

It honestly doesn’t surprise me. Multiple features stopped working or disabled themselves. I think that is absolutely ridiculous. I also missed important messages from my mom and my boss. Why would an update be designed to disable messages and not inform the users? I honestly don’t know... this issue sounds just like issues that people with androids have. You have to program your phone for alerts because the phone won’t automatically make a sound, light up, or alert you. Very upsetting

I didn’t buy from this year’s newest iPhone line, but when we went to go pick up my brother’s phone, I didn’t realize that the older models were also going to be shipped in smaller boxes without the EarPods & a charging brick. Plus, the cord features is USB-C to lightning. it’s not THAT big of a deal, but Apple didn’t do any sort of price reduction. And even moreso, with the iPhone 12 line, they’re an extra $30 compared to last year’s launch of the iPhone 11. Not only are they not gonna give you your accessories, but they’re not gonna even offer a discount for not having the accessories, and for the newest line they’re even gonna charge you more!

Like I said, I’m fine with my phone and charger and AirPods, but I feel like if Apple is going to charge you an arm and a leg for the entry level models that are being sent out with the newest iOS update pre-installed, remove accessories, send out the product in an “environmentally friendly” box that also reduces the shipping costs — the least they can do is make sure the current iOS update actually WORKS.

I have an 11 Pro Max, with the 14 upgrade I’ve lost hundreds of texts, including photos. And, not I get no notifications on SMS, even my favorites and emergency contacts. Of course, I do get spam notices. :/

This is not a feature, it’s a bug, and a bad one. I have tried every fix I’ve read about. . People should not have to call me to tell me they texted. And if there is no solution it will drive me from Apple.

ios 14 was the worst upgrade ever.

Wake up, Apple! There’s a problem with 14.2 and you need to fix it. You’re driving customers to android phones by your failure to fix this. It’s been going on way too long and affecting many, many users
