iOS 14 text notification issues

Not true. Mine will do both when it works. When the phone always worked with the watch with notifications. after the update, the phone quit and the watch receives most notifications.

geggie, since it is not happening to you, please let those of us deal with this instead of you saying things that are not true. I read the same thing you are referring to. That was never proven. Apple told me that was not true when I brought that up to them as well.

There is a problem with the iphone update on some iphones. I have had the iWatches and phones ever since they came out. I have never had a problem getting notifications on either until recently. I know both very well and know the iPhone is not working correctly since the update or around the same time.

Is true. It has been designed that way since the first generation watch which I had. It is in Apple's documentation. It was designed to work that way to keep people from irritating everyone around them by having their notifications sound on both their Watch and iPhone simultaneously. There are some kludges available to make it sound on both but it limits the use of all features of the Watch. And I didn't say both don't receive the notifications, they do, it just only gives an alert on one device, the Watch. If yours was doing both when it worked something was wrong.

Tightcoyote, that is true. The same problem exists if someone had a watch or not. I do but my daughter does not. Her iPhone does the same thing as mine with notifications. I do not believe the iWatch has anything to do with it.

I do not have an Apple watch, but my wife has one. After she got it, notifications on my iPhone stopped if I remember correctly. We do not share the same Apple ID.

I believe that my iPhone (which since then has notification issues) somehow knows that there is a watch in the vicinity and decides to screw up notifications.

iWatch couldn't be the initial problem with not receiving notifications. Several people on this thread including my daughter does not have an iWatch. It may be causing additional problems since the notification issue started but it's not the primary cause.

Thank you for that helpful reply. And I am sure the "honeypot" thread will continue. You said from the beginning that you do not have this problem. I do not believe "honeypot" ?? that is a major problem at all. I thinks some of us are further along with working on this issue than others. There very well may be further complications for those with the iWatch than those that don't. The fact is there is a notification issue that we all have in common.

So I've never had a watch.

I brought a new iPad into my house over the winter and that's when the problems began, across three devices: iPhone 7 (I've now upgraded to an iPhone 12 but same issues), Macbook Air, newest iPad.

I HATE that I no longer am getting notice of my text messages since the last iOS update. I constantly have to check my phone to see if I missing important messages. Text messages are the feature I use most on my phone. Considering switching to an Android

That there isn't a "global bug" that is causing everyone to fail to get notifications, and not even everyone in this thread has the same notification problem. So it isn't particularly helpful to a new person coming into the thread and trying to sort out their problem..

We all do. It is not going to get fixed by doing anything to your phone, wear an IWatch, nothing. I think it good people are chiming in to let Apple know this is a serious situation and that they need to fix this soon. I am more disappointed Apple has made no comment. Not the same company it used to be. But keep posting!

Apple will never chime in because they aren’t here. There are Community Specialists that respond to posts that go unanswered for 24 hours wit knowledge base links and there are hosts that ensure rules are followed but there are no engineers, programmers or management reading this.

So fires are fires and they are all the same and you fight them the same way?

There are different problems in this thread:

not getting any notifications

not getting some notifications

getting notifications but no sound

getting sound on some notifications but not others.

only getting notifications on my watch but not my phone

How are these all the same?

And the vast majority of users are getting their notifications and their alerts.

Makes it a much more complex problem to fix.

OK diggie. I am aware there are no engineers on here. There are forum admins and they do report these type of threads at times. We thank you for your help. I'm sure there are other forums that need your help more than we do. You can go troll those forums now. We got this. BTW comparing different methods of fighting fires and different types of fires blows my mind. The difference is when we need a piece of equipment that isn't working or working as well, to use in a high rise to help with search and rescue for example, the city finds a fix and gets what we need! They don't bury their heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist. Speaking of fires, have to run. Starting to get busy with fires and shootings.

I have the same problem. I have tried everything, including resetting all settings (major pain!). It's so frustrating. Apple really needs to release a fix. I run a business and missing texts from my drivers and customers is causing major problems!

I have a similar issue that started when I upgraded to 14.6 from 13.7. I am not getting sound notifications the banner is showing up on my locked screen but no sound is being played. I have an iPhone 6s plus and didn't have this issue when I was running on IOS 13.7. I have made sure do not disturb was not active The notification Sounds slider is on. I Have restored my iphone twice now. Also my battery storage has diminished since upgraded to 14.6. My phone usage hasn't changed. The only thing NEW, is the software upgrade. Please advise. Thank you.
