iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

Sorry to say, it won't stay that way. It will stop notifications again sooner or later. Those that do not have iWatches can get it to stop for a day or two by playing with settings, but is does start acting up again.

Read the comments above. I honestly think there will be no permanent fix until Apple receives enough phone calls that get escalated up the line. That just may get them to do something in a future release.

Not true. The latest update did it for a majority of people with or without the iWatch. I have only seen poss from a couple of people that had the problem previously. But thanks again for your input. But false.

I have an iPhone SE and I'm on the latest - 14.6 and this problem persists for me. I'm very frustrated and need a fix asap! I'm missing critical texts. I can't check my phone every 5 minuted during the workday but I need to be altered if my husband or nanny need me!! I've missed very important texts in the past month. My gardeners we're outside waiting for me and I never got an alert! My nanny was running an errand and needed an answer and I missed the alert. THIS IS CRITICAL BASELINE FUNCTIONALITY OF A PHONE

I am glad this worked for you. but it's ridiculous to have to wipe everything and reinstall in order to fix something that used to work. I am sorry, but really, we should not have to jump through these hoops, the software developers should fix it as it wasn't broken before iOS 14

So I'm on iOS 14.6 and am having similar issues. I receive a text but if my lock screen is off/on standby I do not get any alert sound nor does the screen light up. If I tap the screen I can see that I have an unread message but obviously this is not a practical solution.

I did notice a tenuous link between other Mac devices receiving the message alert before my phone causing it not to show up on my phone but it is very random and don't think that has much to do with it anymore. Nor should it have any impact.

I called Apple and it's been escalated but I don't have high hopes as this seems to have been going on way before iOS 14.6.

I’m also on 14.6 and I wonder if it’s a glitch in the update. Except I think it’s also happening to some who haven’t updated yet. My text alerts come through only when the phone is awake. When it’s locked I have to unlock it to see if I received any texts.

Hi! It has been a while and I'm still having this issue. It is extremely annoying. I crawled the web and tried all workarounds, but without any success so far. When my iPhone screen is locked it "sometimes" don't send the notification.

Please reprioritize this issue.

I'm a health care worker and at night I rely on those notifications to wake up. This issue is extremely painful to me and obviously to many others.

I agree! I’m ready to dump Apple! Almost Every time they have an update something is messed up! I’m so frustrated with only getting notifications, banners & sometimes phone calls when my phone feels like it!!! Nothing has worked, it’s a paid off IPhone 11 this should NOT be happening! Come on Apple get it together or I’m going back to my Galaxy

Has anyone found a solve for this yet. Just reset all of my settings and seemed like it was working again for a few minutes before going back to not getting any push notifications for any of my messaging apps. Really frustrating!!!

There is nothing you can do that will fix it.

You have two options

option 1 - hang on to your $1000 phone and hope it gets fixed in a future update.

option 2- switch to a hemorrhoid based phone

Guys seriously I switched to Google pixel 5 because of this bug and it's great, the camera is better at true to life colors and good detail and the software is actually really smooth. Battery lasts 2 days... And unlimited photos storage so I've finally ditched icloud... I didn't think I'd ever say but I prefer it to my iPhone 12 pro max. If you're considering changing it's a good contender!

Hi, is it possible to confirm whether or not iOS is designed to defer text notifications to Mac OS when you're using a MacBook/iMac? The main issue I'm facing is that texts will show up on Mac OS with no notification on my iPhone when I'm using the computer. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case before but not sure if it's a 'feature' like with watch OS.

My phone does not defer to my Mac when I'm actively using it and the phone is locked. I'm especially aware of this with Outlook. I get the notifications on my phone a good 5-10 seconds prior to getting them on my Mac. Message notifications tend to be more or less simultaneous.

However, it is likely that the notification problems people are reporting here have a number of different causes so, this information may or may not be relevant to your issue.
