iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I've also been fighting this notification issue for months on my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple no help. I discovered that turning off bluetooth on my phone fixed the problem (allowed text notifications to sound and appear, whether the phone was locked or not). But with bluetooth on, notifications only sounded & appeared with the phone unlocked. Obviously, I didn't want to leave bluetooth off all the time.

I also came to realize this issue started when I got a new Apple Watch 6 a few months ago. Coincidence? Taking the watch on and off didn't help. And with the watch on, it didn't sound notifications either.

But the posting from StubbornPixie got me thinking about killing the mirror function on the watch for the Messages app. So, iPhone Watch app>Messages>"Custom" "Notifications Off" seems to have SOLVED THE PROBLEM for me. My iPhone 11 Pro now notifies me of incoming text messages with bluetooth on. I realize my watch won't ping with messages until Apple fixes the root problem, but at least I won't be missing message notifications altogether.

Hope this helps others.

I Phone Pro Max 12, started with no notifications after 6 months. I need this for business and not getting notifications costs me money and anger from my clients. I have to go into mail and use my finger to scroll and refresh the page in order to receive new mail. Spent 15 hours with tech support, senior tech and then onto engineering. Nobody can fix this.

Finally Apple customer service agreed the phone should be replaced and told me they would sent another NEW I Phone Pro Max. They Fed-ex'd overnight and what I got was a "reconditioned" Pro Max NOT NEW as promised. When I called back I was told the C/S agent was wrong and they never replace with another new phone. This replacement has already started to not show e-mails that I have gotten on my desktop, so the problem is still happening even on a reconditioned device.

If the problem is this serious effecting this many people Apple should recall the phones like a car manufacturer would do and with fix or replace all these phones with something that works.

Now I understand why they announced this model is discontinued! So either I have to buy an I Phone 13 with IOS 15 or give up on Apple and go to Samsung.

WARNING: NEVER buy any I Phone 12 model !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a Google pixel because someone told me it's the most similar Android to iPhone and it's amazing! Would highly recommend - it has a ton of features that my old iPhone couldn't do, like telling me what music is playing even when I'm offline and it can answer spam phone calls for you!! And the pictures are amazing!! Never going back to Apple.. This is where it's at...

If I had an Apple watch I’d try that. My problem is intermittent, with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes the alerts work; sometimes they don’t. I am forever making sure everything is set right. The fact that it’s intermittent on my phone says it’s not my phone causing the issue. And it isn’t just with certain people. It’s just random. I hate it. I have five more payments left on this phone and I doubt very much that I’ll be getting an Apple phone next time. Everyone I know is suggesting an Android so it might be time to switch. I rely on being able to receive text messages and when I pay close to a grand for a phone I better be able to receive them.

I think i know what happen to my issue. It's the background refresh. Whatsapp desktop said my phone is not connect within a minute after I turned off the phone screen. Must be somehow iphone does not allow those apps to run in the background even the setting said they can.

Not sure how to fix it but I tried to turn all the background setting off. After restarting the phone, it turns back on itself. When I do it again, it stays off this time.

Anyone know how to fix background app refresh issue?

I have the same problem too! I have the I Phone 11 PRO and it is completely unreliable. This is an intermittent problem, and I have been missing critical messages for months. After multiple case #'s with Apple, hours on the phone trying to fix this, and bringing it into the Genius Bar, they have no suggestions, except for removing and replacing my apps... which I have done and the problem persists.

Notice how Apple hasn’t made a peep about this either, as widespread as it is. I’ve already made my mind up to get an Android next time. I don’t think my problem is being connected to any other device because I turned off everything in those. I was sitting here conducting business yesterday because I’m moving and have a lot of things to do– – PG&E, Comcast, renter’s insurance changes, confirming with the movers, etc. also, I have a bunch of stuff on craigslist. On top of that, I have a terminally ill relative and a lot went down yesterday so I really needed text capability. I literally had to sit there with my phone on my lap, or in my hand, so I could make sure not to miss texts. And now I have to make sure to tell everyone to call me instead of text because my text capabilities are intermittent.. It’s absolutely ridiculous for the $900 I spent on this phone. And you can’t tell me Apple doesn’t know about this. They’re pretty good at being crickets.

Lock Screen - I have same issue. I am not getting SOME sound notifications on iMessage nor is the banner showing up on locked screen for same. I have an iPhone 12 Pro and have dowloaded the latest iOS 15.0.1. I have reset my phone twice. I have had 1support call with Apple to go through all my settings and to try and resolve and 1 Genius Bar appt to try and resolve and still have this problem. All settings are checked appropriately says Apple.

It's random.... When on Lock Screen, I do receive some texts alerts and banners on Lock Screen but 3 minutes later for example, I would not receive a audio alert or banner from the same person. I am missing a lot of important messages. This happens for several of my contacts.
