iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

Like many on here I had been having many of the same issues, missing all sorts of notifications, not just text since upgrading to ios 14 (first 14.1 then 14.2). Here is what fixed my issue... I went to settings->notifications->messages (for this example) and scrolled down to the options section. For the show previews section the "when unlocked (default)" was selected, meaning only notifications would only appear when the phone is unlocked when is hardly ever the case. I switched it always and the issue is now gone. I had to go into may other apps one by one and toggle this option back to always. Showing previews only when unlocked was 100% not my setting before this update.

What is interesting/****** me off is my wife just upgraded to ios14 and did not have issue. I went into her phone to settings->notifications->messages and for her show previews option was selected as "always (default)". Why on her phone she has options listed as "always (default)" and on my is "always" and "when unlocked (default)" I have no clue.

Thanks Apple!

Definitely intentionally done once again. Same exact issues as an update years ago Battery drain, not refreshing emails, no notification sounds on LTE only when AirPods or EarPods are connected on an active phone call (works when on WiFi) they do this so everyone thinks their phone is messed up so we get ready to purchase a new one every year especially when a new release is coming out it’s really ridiculous and they should be investigated more thoroughly

I don't think so. My husband has an iPhone X Pro and he installed ios14. He gets notifications. The difference I think is he's not using shortcuts & widgets. I changed my screen. I didn't get them with iOS 14 or 14.0.1 which is what I was hoping for. I did reset & back up, still not getting them for phone, messages, mail which are the most important to me.

Since the update, none of my notifications are showing on my apps. I have enabled notifications, to include banners in settings and have the sound enabled and still nothing either visual or audio; I missed like 14 emails in my gmail account because of this issue, some were time sensitive. Also, if Facetime drops a call it locks my phone up to the point that I could not even power off, I had to google how to power off using the side button pattern or it would still be locked. This is why people hesitate to download updates. Can it please be fixed? I have an Iphone 11 Pro Max with ios 14.0.1 on the phone.

Yes! In addition to the notification issue, I had a dropped FaceTime call last night that completely bricked my phone. I could not turn it off to reset it without the hard reset trick.

i have missed many text messages notifications while on calls - this is more than just a weird glitch, it’s a major bug that should be addressed immediately. These are $1800 phones, I should get notice of a text message like I was able to get back in 2010

Apple REALLY needs to FIX this. It's a hot mess. Batteries on my iPhone 11 Pro and Apple Watch don't make it through half of the day, plus everything is SLOW as ****, and it takes forever to receive mail. Texting is still a nightmare. They pretend like they haven't heard of any of these issues and that I'm the first one to report them.

Not gonna fool me this time around. I normally don't allow new IOS updates until they're about a month old so that I can see if they have bugs. This time it installed overnight because my phone somehow switched back to automatic updates and I was so mad. I also hate the way the updates change all of the default settings so that your battery is drained by all of the apps having "background refresh" turned on. That's what's been draining a large part of my device batteries.

The last senior advisor I spoke with started a trouble ticket, too screen shots of some of my issues, ran a diagnostic and sent info to engineers. They said I’d hear back in a few days. That was over a week ago and I’ve heard nothing. They never admitted to a known bug and acted like this was an isolated case.

I don’t think notifications are working for anyone that updated to iOS 14. You must be on a active phone call and not be connected to WiFi or WiFi calling for notifications to be silent. Mine don’t work with earbuds or airpods connected either. So many people are on phone calls nowadays with earbuds or airpods and have to no that their phone is on silent. I find it hard to believe apple isn’t being flooded with complaints!
