iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I've also been fighting this notification issue for months on my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple no help. I discovered that turning off bluetooth on my phone fixed the problem (allowed text notifications to sound and appear, whether the phone was locked or not). But with bluetooth on, notifications only sounded & appeared with the phone unlocked. Obviously, I didn't want to leave bluetooth off all the time.

I also came to realize this issue started when I got a new Apple Watch 6 a few months ago. Coincidence? Taking the watch on and off didn't help. And with the watch on, it didn't sound notifications either.

But the posting from StubbornPixie got me thinking about killing the mirror function on the watch for the Messages app. So, iPhone Watch app>Messages>"Custom" "Notifications Off" seems to have SOLVED THE PROBLEM for me. My iPhone 11 Pro now notifies me of incoming text messages with bluetooth on. I realize my watch won't ping with messages until Apple fixes the root problem, but at least I won't be missing message notifications altogether.

Hope this helps others.

I was not being notified of my text messages (via sound/vibrate or the screen lighting up) but my texts were coming through my phone. When I clicked my screen, I would see text messages that I had missed. I had this problem with my iPhone XR and then my iPhone 13. I had been in contact with Apple Support for 2 years with no resolution until today. Turns out my Macbook Pro was "mirroring" my iPhone and so the notifications wouldn't be sounded on my iPhone; even though the iPhone was NOT connected via Bluetooth to the computer. My text notification issue was only when I was around my laptop. So the solution was to turn off my Macbook Bluetooth and the problem resolved. This is not a long term solution but I was told that once I update my Macbook to the latest iOS then this problem should be resolved. Hope this helps!

So update- this happened to me when I was changing the date and time for candy crush. It was only one contact that couldn’t call me when my phone was locked and I wasn’t getting any notifications for texts. I tried all kinds of things, turning on all location settings, restarting my phone, messing around with the time and date. I read one post on here that said it was fixed when the text thread of the person was deleted but I didn’t want to do that because I had I lot of info in the text thread. I did a basic reset and that didn’t fix it. I ended up doing a factory reset and when I was asked to use my iCloud back-up, I was offered two dates: yesterday, and last week. I chose the one from last week as I wasn’t having the problem then and so far it’s been fixed!

i stopped getting text notification sounds suddenly yesterday. The only person I was texting with was my sister-in-law. I saw the half moon next to the conversation and slid the convo from right to left which exposed the mite/unmute/delete choices and noticed she was muted. I unmuted her and the problem was solved but this is a major bug in ios14.1. If I mute one person it should not mute text notifications from everyone. Please fix this ASAP Apple. Hope this helps.
