Why is 1TB of storage being used for health app?
Why does it say that my health app is taking up 1TB of storage? Is this a bug for iOS 14?

Why does it say that my health app is taking up 1TB of storage? Is this a bug for iOS 14?
Hi all,
I have the exact same problem. I've spent 1 hour and 10 minutes on the phone with 3 different Apple support people today - the last person I spoke to was from the Health team (apparently) and even he was stumped at first. For context, my phone is an iPhone 11 Pro 256GB, of which, I've used 71.7GB of data, however, my Health app is 1.61TB. The bar is completely coloured in red like the OP. Following investigation, the Apple representative told me that the engineers are aware of this and I should keep a look out for an update. I asked what I should do in the meantime in regards to backing up my iPhone (as neither the Cloud or my Mac are capable, as they both think I have too much data) and his response was that there was nothing else he could do. I get that this isn't his fault, and I know he doesn't have a magic wand, but this is frustrating to the extreme. What's even worse is there are posts about this back in Mar-20 if you Google it, so either this is an ongoing issue (meaning resolution will not be quick) or it's an issue that has been resolved in the past but has cropped up again (perhaps due to IOS 14). I'm hoping for the latter, as in theory the engineers will know how to fix this if they've done it before.
I don't know for definite, but I'd assume the more people that phone up, then the higher priority this will receive, as such, any one who hasn't called yet might consider phoning up Apple and logging this. If you do, be careful of the 1st line team, as the lady I spoke to was just trying to sell me additional storage space on the Cloud... I had to insist that I had over 600GB of my 1TB drive spare on my Mac, and that there was no way my phone could take up this much room!
With 14.0.1. I haven't noticed any glitching with my fitness app but I haven't actually ran a workout on it yet.. The two workouts I tracked on ios 14 when my fitness app was not working were loaded back when I updated to 14.0.1. The health app is no longer taking my battery up though since 14.0.1.
Hi Shaft80, yes I hope so too and I think it will follow soon. Tomorrow will be a week from the last update so hopefully they've got something new for us. I'm going to hold on trying to track a workout or download apps until then (because after I did this last time after 14.0 , it triggered the issue and then I was not able to use my watch basically).. So I'm going to sit tight just in case, as for now my watch is syncing with my phone after 14.0.1.
70.62 PB. Happens twice now, once somehow I managed to fix it (wasn’t as simple as a reset) no idea how I did it and it’s cropped up again, hoping for a fix as cannot backup “70 PB”+25GB of stuff to iCloud or Mac. I was told to unpair and factory reset everything but don’t want to really as last time I did that a while back lost a significant amount of data and don’t fancy telling all my contacts again.
I had this problem too. I called Apple Support and they were no help.
I erased my iPhone SE 2020 and restored it from a backup. The Apple Health app is now behaving. It was using 97.1 GB before and now is using 294.4 MB. It was also running my battery down.
Fingers crossed but all seems to be OK now

It is definitely fixed now. Erase. Restore from backup. No problems now. No more draining the battery or hogging the storage. Strange that the Apple folks don’t offer this solution.
It would be helpful if you read the rest of the thread. Some people couldn’t back up because of the large health data. And some of those didn’t have previous backups to restore. That’s why this is not a universal solution. Apple’s advice was NOT to erase and restore, because that would result id loss of the health and activity data, but rather to wait for a fix. That’s why Apple didn’t offer this solution.
My only concern is how will an update be able to download on a device where there is -1600 GB of storage available? 😂 I still think i’m going to wait but wondering how it’ll work logistically with no storage left.
İt actually tells me i have 5 GB left at the top, which is true. I can download apps, save pics and haven’t tried music cause I don’t listen to music often. The issue is it refuses to back up and WhatsApp does not open
Ok, thanks a lot for your answer.
I have been using a 3rd party sleep tracking app, and when i deleted the app and downloaded it back, it said that there were already sleep data for that day (which i didn't had the app installed and didn't wear the watch). And the app didn't work on the apple watch. I taught that this whole apple health issue may be sth about sleep data.
And also, are there anybody in this thread without an apple watch?
same issues as everyone else, 1tb of data, multiple devices listed as a source. Loads of iPhone/watch’s all mine. Headphone data not syncing. GPS and map route aren’t showing. Orders new I watch 6 tempted to leave it in box until resolved. They need to hurry up 🙏
I am pretty sure this is an input bug.
I installed another sleep tracking app and slept with my watch yesterday. As I woke up, the data synced to apple health automatically. After 5 minutes, my phone started heating like crazy. Not like it warmed up a couple degrees, I had to stop charging it. Now my battery is draining %1 every minute.
I only have 5 GB of Icloud, since i am not paying that much for cloud. I tried turning of health, but it still refuses to backup. Besides Apple "recommending" to reset your phone because of a software bug is not OK.
First of all, no all of us live in the US, so it is more expensive in my country. But even if it was 99 cents, My PB of data does not fit in it. As far as my knowledge goes Apple does not offer a 10 PB plan for Icloud.
I think the only solution to this is for as many people to report it to Apple support that way the more people they get to raise the issue the better the chance of doing an update.
I did read though this week in an IT article that Apple are fully aware of this issue along with a string of other issues such as phones overheating and battery draining etc and that an update will be out soon to sort it
I called apple yesterday as was trying to pair my new Apple Watch, restored from a back up, the 1tb of health data storage has gone. Still a fews issues, but they resolved it, no more 1tb of health data. Havent lost any data! Schedule a call with them, really helpful.
What did they do exactly, did they took a backup and restored from it? I cannot take a backup on my phone. I also cannot call Apple because there isn’t such a thing in my country. I can go to an Apple store if they can somehow take a backup there.
Why is 1TB of storage being used for health app?
