I FOUND THE SOLUTION!

I was having an issue similar to this thread: I cannot paste my copied text from one application to another application

For me I was able to see the "copy" option... but the "paste" option would only show up after my 2nd or 3rd attempt trying to copy/paste from one app to another... and also sometimes in the same app. This was happening in native Apple apps as well as 3rd party apps.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro running the latest iOS so there's no reason I should have been having these issues. I spent 40 mins on a chat with an Apple agent who kept asking the same questions but no resolution.

So I kept searching and found THIS ARTICLE!! And that's where I finally... after 3 or 4 months... found the solution!!!

"For some users, disabling and then re-enabling the Universal Clipboard seems to fix this issue. To do so, you need to disable the Handoff feature. Go to Settings > General > Handoff > Uncheck. After this, log out of your iCloud account and restart your device. Once it reboots, login back to the iCloud. Then check if the Copy and Paste not working issue after the iOS 14 update is fixed or not."

I'm not sure if that alone solved my problem so I'll also share the other two things I did, as well...

I followed the above instructions and before restarting my phone and logging back into iCloud here's what I did:

Go to Settitngs > General > Reset

  • Reset All Settings
  • Reset Network Settings

Then I shut down my phone... then restarted... then logged back into iCloud... and I'm back in business. After 4 months of being incredibly frustrated, I finally have copy/paste working again properly!

I wish I had this solution 4 months ago!

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities VWMOMMYOF3,

We see that you're unable to copy/paste in apps after updating to iOS 14. We'd be happy to look into this with you.

You've already done some great troubleshooting steps. We'd like to ask a few questions to help to isolate this issue.

Can you tell us if this is happening with specific apps? If so, which apps? If you have multiple iOS devices, are you experiencing the same thing on all devices?

Also, restart your iPhone and test to see if the issue remains.

Restart your iPhone

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Cheers!

Same here! I actually just bought an iPhone 11 last weekend in hopes it would be easier to use for my small business. I copy and paste a lot of different things from Facebook. I can’t do any of it on this phone. I’ve tried from chrome, Safari, and the Facebook app nothing will let me copy and paste. In Safari the phone will vibrate when you hold your finger down to try to get the copy and paste button to come up but that is it. Very frustrated with my new iPhone.

I have followed every advice given here and it just won't work. I have lost count of the numbers of times and different ways I have tried to copy and paste into my bank app the code sent on text msg and it just won't let me copy it. I have also tried using the keyboard... useless. What am I supposed to do now?? Just be unable to check my bank account info?? Oh, and i'm running ios 14.0.1 on my device.

I don't know in what kind of apps you can do that, but in the bank app where I have to copy/paste there is no room to paste but on a box where the confirmation code goes. No other part of screen will admit copy/paste...and it just won't work.

When is ios 14.1 coming out? If they don't fix it on the next ios release, it's bye bye, Apple, and hello, Samsung.

I cannot "select all" by holding my finger on the text anymore, I have tried quickly tapping, double tapping, holding etc....I need that function to also cut, copy and then paste also. This is very inconvenient and a tool I use a lot. Most in Text Messaging, FB Messenger, FB Commenting, IG Commenting, across all apps - I do not get the "Select All" option on my text I have typed in.

Let's try a concrete example, because this is an ongoing issue. I'm using an iPhone X and am up to date with ios 14.1.

Issue - creating an email signature image; unable to paste contents of clipboard

Application - Apple Mail (native mail application by Apple)

Problem

  • Go to Settings > Mail > Signature
  • Try to paste contents of clipboard
  • Only options are Cut, Copy, Replace, B/U, Look Up and Share
    • WHERE HAS THE PASTE OPTION GONE?

Since using iOS 14.1 I’ve had countless problems. I can’t copy and paste any of my documents and I was signed out of several websites and had to recreate new passwords as my device wasn’t recognised. I’ve seen a post on here explaining how to copy but I’m still unable to actually paste the document. Not good enough Apple! Please sort it!

So since Apple is SO intuitive all users MUST DIVINE that they changed an operation that they have been using for YEARS? They should just know it takes two taps, right?

intuition: : the fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience or association

Just a reminder that you should not assume. As a matter of fact it just might be COUNTER intuitive.

My problem with copy/paste is in “Notes”, and mostly it doesn’t work. I have an iPhone 11Pro on iOS 14.2. I tried the tip some had here with getting them tapping the blue line but that is sporadic at best in Notes, and the line I have is gold and longer. And when I try the tap, it just moves the line to somewhere else. In apps that use the blue line, yes your YouTube seems to work. In “Notes”, that uses the gold line, I have not found a tapping move that works consistently. I have gotten three different menus, and only one has “select”, copy, paste. I use Notes a lot and I cannot get it working.
