iOS 14 Update and copy/paste doesn’t work

Obviously it’s not just me experiencing the copy/paste problem. I’ve been worrying my iPhone 7 Plus was on the fritz for weeks. I keep screen clean. Restarted on several occasions. Currently running IOS 14.1. Biggest frustration is trying to copy and paste in Notes, so it’s not only a non-Apple app issue. When I tap the screen to get the options menu, usually nothing happens. If I hold my finger down, a big vertical line appears over the text but it is not a cursor. To have a chance at success, I have to do a finger-dance over and around the text. Other times, I just get frustrated and retype my text. After reading here that other people are having copy/paste issues, my conclusion is the problem is likely related to IOS 14. Not a good example of a good productivity tool. Has anyone from Apple responded since the Sept answer to restart and schedule (costly) Genius Bar visit? I would think this would have been addressed by now. Did I miss something?

This only works if the word(s) are on the right side of the screen. I cannot get a word in the first second, or third position on the left side of the screen to highlight, and if it’s a phone number I’m trying to copy, forget about it! Why isn’t Apple admitting they F’d up on this!

This is not 100% effective! I am lucky if I can get a word or two to highlight after double tapping it! Some words just will not highlight no mater how many times I try to tap on it. If it’s a phone number, street number or zip code in someone’s address, forget about it! As I’ve stated earlier, I am about to trade my iPhone in and never buy an Apple product again!

sorry but double tap not resolve the problem the issue its only in facebook app in others app or comments on facebook its ok its just very funny because its only in facebook post that we cant make copy

Any sort of tapping doesn’t work for me. iPad Pro 14.2. Copy/paste is a real problem now, it is sporadic and doesn’t work properly across ANY app for me. The issue certainly isn’t only in Facebook as per stated by previous post lulupr43 ..... I don’t have/use the Facebook app!

for me i am unable to paste it there is no paste function so i tried to use my keyboard with my iPad and it still doesn’t work it pastes the old thing i had selected.i think it doesn’t copy thats why it pastes the old thing i had selected wth pls apple devs fix this issue i am having an urgent exam and i totally really on apple devices i have tried it with all of the apple phones and iPads i have and also it doesn’t work there i also tried my sisters and fathers mothers brothers apple devices they all own 3 eac but it doesn’t work please add an update i urgently need to work for my exam

This is maddening! I’ve been so frustrated since updating to iOS 14 and the reason I waited until the last possible moment to update. What’s even worse is that it’s not consistent! Once in a while it works and I’m hopeful to only be let down again! I haven’t found a viable solution yet. Apple Please, please fix this!

Nope. Can’t copy pix from websites and send to friends. 401 or something error. Tried shutting my phone on & off and it is completely updated. How does Apple mess up basic functions with upgrades...whoever is testing the app in quality control is asleep. Very frustrated.

Yes same problem here on most apps. V v frustrating and time consuming so costing money if I were a business. In the old days of apple computers' OS (6,7,8,9) you could select whatever and copy as a numbered clips e.g. clips 1, 2, : etc. When passing it would show each selection and you chose that one. V v useful if lots to copy and paste. All gone now since apple retrograde over the years. I need to get my Mac Colour Classic ('93) out of the attic but it can't connect to the internet via Ethernet....grrr. I wonder if Big Sur has this ancient features installed for my Mac mini? I'm waiting for general customer feedback before going there....

I have same problem on the ipad and iphone using different apps. As well discovered when using Amazon placing text in make it a gift section. Its very frustrating. One cannot select text, copy and paste. One needs to write all again if one can remember. I waited with update until end of November and see this issue runs since September?!!!

I’m having the same problem selecting part of text message to cut, copy, select, past but ONLY before hitting send in text Message box to someone in the Apple messenger app on the new and updated iPhone

I am unable to copy and paste in the Messages app (apple basic app). Now, when I hold down on the text, I don't get the blue cursor, I get a bunch of thumbs up symbols. I want to copy / paste the message I sent to one person, and send it in a separate message to another person. This needs to be fixed! This happened once I uploaded the last few updates (last month). I now have 14.2.

I also have been unable to copy/paste photos from various places. Won't copy. Wants more permissions to my photos, when it did not need that before. Ugh. So frustrating.

I’m having the same problem. It works, but randomly. If the word(s) I’m trying to select doesn’t work, I have to keep picking a new word to TRY to get the select option to appear, then I have to scroll to what I actually want to select. Such a pain!

My issue is kind of similar. I'm on IOS14.2. I can copy text but copy all doesn't show up, although that's manageable. My real issue is that my phone won't let me paste text on snapchat, which allows copy and paste and pretty much always has.

It is happening while texting. I cannot select all because there is not an option for that. And when I try and correct a word, the curser is always above where my finger is by 1-2 words/lines. I attached a screenshot and my finger was right here. Also many times I have to double click a word multiple times before I get the copy or paste option now. Also happening while typing in this forum. Very frustrating.
