iPhone Fitness app and Apple Watch Activity app not syncing

Ever since I updated my iphone to ios 14 activity app isn't working properly.

Indoor walk gets recorded in the watch but does not show up in the activity app, outdoor walk workouts are missing, route track map does not appear any more. I tried restarting phone and watch and even unpaired and paired the watch again but no luck.

Does anyone else has similar issues?

Looks like there are lots of bugs in activity app in ios14

I too had this same issue.

I've been working with Apple Support and engineering to fix this, well my problem at least.

I'm happy to say that all is fixed for me, my maps, awards, move streaks are all there and showing.

To start, make sure your data is really there. Look in your health app on the phone.

go to Workouts then scroll all the way down to Show all workout Routes

Tap that and see if the data is really there.

If it is here are the steps that Apple gave me to follow and it worked.

This involves wiping the watch and the phone.

You must use the iCloud back up

  1. Make sure that under iCloud, you have toggle on Health Settings>your name>iCloud>Health>make sure this is toggle on
  2. UnPair your watch from the phone (Watch>All Watches>Your watch tap the !> then tap unpair Apple Watch
  3. Perform an iCloud backup Settings>your name>iCloud>Backup>Tap back up now
  4. In the health app, tap your picture bubble on the top right, scroll down to the very bottom and make sure that the data has been back up. It this does not show the correct date, do nothing else as it will fail and your data will not be correct.
  5. iPhone>Settings>General>Rest>Erase all contents and settings
  6. Restore iPhone from iCloud backup
  7. Repair your watch to the iPhone
  8. Restore Watch from iCloud back up

This is what I was told to do and it worked.

Proceed at your own risk.

I’m having similar issues since updating my XS to iOS 14 and my Watch (series 4) to iOS 7. My watch is not tracking fitness data AT ALL since the upgrade on 09/17. I have zero fitness data from 09/18 to current. When I try to start a workout on my watch it records only the time and nothing else, no heart rate, distance, etc... my rings don’t move at all. I use my watch mainly for fitness and if it’s not going to work then it’s useless to me. Thinking about changing fitness devices and getting rid of my watch all together because this ain’t cool.

I am having the same issues! And because of that I lost a 220+ day streak of achieving my daily move goal every day - I am ******.

the issue seems to be with

  • recording some workout activities on the watch
  • syncing with the activity app on the iphone
  • syncing with the health app

Further down the stream the calorie count gets incorrectly synced to the MyPlate app (Livestrong), which I have heavily relied on to track my calorie balance and successfully lost 20 lbs tracking my calories.

Worst of all, I was trying to fix the issue and deleted “unpaired” Apple Watch entries from my health app (under Privacy — > Devices) as I suspected the priority might mess up the data transferred. As a result I lost All my historical activity data - I had achieved around 1300 times my move goal and now I have ZERO.

i am so frustrated that I am thinking of completely retiring my Apple Watch as it would take me years to get where i was a few days ago.

In case it helps for troubleshooting:

I have an Apple Watch 6, which I use to record the workouts.

If I do a workout with my phone nearby, it seems to sync.

If I go for a run without my phone (iphone 8 - ios14) it doesn't sync. The exercise minutes seem to count but the workout doesn't register.

Also not seeing the maps for the walks I do on the phone.

I also find the new Fitness App on the Phone really hard to find anything. It's significantly less intuitive than the app it replaced.

Similar problems here... Apple watch 6 / WatchOS7 / iPhone 8 / iOS14.0

I'm working out with only the watch and syncing afterwards.

On iPhone:

  • Apple work-out run data are incomplete (no GPS beyond starting point, no heart rate graph).
  • After importing in RunGap and exporting to Garmin Connect, I see in the graphs that there is only data for the first 10 minutes of heart rate, pace, steps/minute.

Pretty lame for a new watch. Other forums mention that these problems existed in the beta's and were reported.

BBroosk has explained EXACTLY my problems to the T.

No matter what I have done. Restart, un-pair and re-pair. Resync data, hard resets nothing is helping.

The only advice Apple has given is “let’s un pair and repair the watch’ and suggested ‘ recalibration’

this is annoying the **** out of me and I hope this gets escalated somehow.

my watch remains correct in its logging but will not correctly sync data to iPhone.

both the watch and phone are on current iOS systems.

I have had the same problem. I did not have any issues prior to updating to Watch OS 7 and iOS 14. I've unpaired twice, reset and restored my phone twice, and applied the 14.0.1 and 7.0.1 updates. Nothing has fixed the issue.

I opened a support case with Apple. If you haven't done so, I would recommend it. I am 100% certain it is a software issue, so I'm not hopeful that it will be fixed anytime soon, but if everybody complains it might get done sooner.

I am seeing some of the same issues. Using the outdoor walk all the data is transferred over to the fitness app but there is no GPS info on the map. When I upload to Strava I get the message that the workout does not have any route information and sure enough it does not. For me this started happening on September 19th the day after I upgraded to IOS 14.

Viewing the workout in the fitness App I can see that there is no route info on the map, so this is definitely at Apple's end. I have read some reports that Apple support is blaming Strava.
