iPhone Fitness app and Apple Watch Activity app not syncing

Ever since I updated my iphone to ios 14 activity app isn't working properly.

Indoor walk gets recorded in the watch but does not show up in the activity app, outdoor walk workouts are missing, route track map does not appear any more. I tried restarting phone and watch and even unpaired and paired the watch again but no luck.

Does anyone else has similar issues?

Looks like there are lots of bugs in activity app in ios14

I too had this same issue.

I've been working with Apple Support and engineering to fix this, well my problem at least.

I'm happy to say that all is fixed for me, my maps, awards, move streaks are all there and showing.

To start, make sure your data is really there. Look in your health app on the phone.

go to Workouts then scroll all the way down to Show all workout Routes

Tap that and see if the data is really there.

If it is here are the steps that Apple gave me to follow and it worked.

This involves wiping the watch and the phone.

You must use the iCloud back up

  1. Make sure that under iCloud, you have toggle on Health Settings>your name>iCloud>Health>make sure this is toggle on
  2. UnPair your watch from the phone (Watch>All Watches>Your watch tap the !> then tap unpair Apple Watch
  3. Perform an iCloud backup Settings>your name>iCloud>Backup>Tap back up now
  4. In the health app, tap your picture bubble on the top right, scroll down to the very bottom and make sure that the data has been back up. It this does not show the correct date, do nothing else as it will fail and your data will not be correct.
  5. iPhone>Settings>General>Rest>Erase all contents and settings
  6. Restore iPhone from iCloud backup
  7. Repair your watch to the iPhone
  8. Restore Watch from iCloud back up

This is what I was told to do and it worked.

Proceed at your own risk.

Same here. Activity app is synching steps and the rings but not the workouts. Strangely it stopped synching workouts for me two days after updating the watch OS to 7 and five days after updating iPhone to iOS 14. Watch has all the workout data but Activity app only shows the minutes of workout and closes the rings but has no workout detail after last Saturday the 19th. I've reset everything but nothing works.

I am having the same issues as everyone else here.. tried all the "steps" to correct, and the issue just won't go away. I'm thinking the 1-day Golden Master period before release was nowhere near enough time to flush out all the bugs. It's hard to believe that no beta testers encountered these bugs while in public or GM betas. Apple probably should have followed their usual release timetable after the Time Flies event, most if not all, of this could have been prevented.

I've never had issues with new major releases on my phone/watch before iOS 14/WatchOS 7.

I’m having the same annoying issue with my watch. It doesn’t track my stand hours very well. Sometimes I’ll be standing at my standing desk for work and it won’t track; I’ll have to walk around in circles and flail my arms for it to recognize that I’ve “stood” which is super annoying to me.

Today I was cooking for 20 min, moving around the kitchen, and the watch didn’t record that I was standing. Super annoying and frustrating especially when I’m on the move and don’t always remember to flail my arms around to make my watch track that I’m standing.

I have had exactly the same issue and now confident it is fixed. I think it is an os14 issue rather than the watchos7 isssue.

back up both watch and phone to iCloud.

factory reset phone

restore phone from iCloud back up

wait for around 2 hours for all data to restore.

all seems good now.

GPS data before restore lost unfortunately. However all other elements now seem to match ... steps exercise minutes etc.

just did a walk and left phone at home. Check and all data has now synced including GPS.

hope this helps

Exactly the same here.

The data was syncing well before the upgrading to iOS14 and WatchOS7.

Now I can see my exercises on the watch but, some of them (outdoor walk and traditional strength), not in Fitness app on iPhone.

It also lost all the old tracks and, don't show anymore the auto sets for pool swimming.

The graphics for Move/Exercise/Stand numbers are showing completely disconnected with the numbers, that are correct.

I've tried all the suggested fixes with no results.

Hope Apple fixes this soon.

Hi I am facing the same issue after recent update of IOS wherein the indoor walk does not gets recorded in the activity app although distance and steps are accounted for. The health app shows almost half the distance walked since the update. The stand graph is not visible on activity app but stand hours are counted. The heart rate graph is also not visible for the workout citing data not readable or available. The outdoor cycling workout route map is not visible anymore and the heart rate graph is also not displayed in one of the workout and the reason cited is maybe the watch is not worn properly. I have been using this watch and iPhone for past one year and never such an problem has been faced and since the last update on this Sunday all these problems are noticed in the app on iPhone whereas I watch shows almost all datas properly except for skipping some indoor walks. I tried all types of rebooting erasing repairing the iwatch but same results. Infact my iwatch has started counting more floors climbed even when I am walking on flat surface with no surface elevation gain. Didn’t expect such errors from Apple especially after spending all most 10 times the price of an decent fitness band available in market. Hope apple resolved this issue ASAP. Refer attached photo where the stand bar chart is missing but not of stand hours counted. My indoor walk of 5 Kms not displayed but distance and steps counted. Heart rate chart for outdoor cycling not displayed. Route map of outdoor cycling not displayed .

Just done an hour workout on my apple watch series 5, done via the workout app, ended it, pressed done, didn’t even save to the phone...which is twice thats happened now, pathetic tbh. Is that the workout gone forever? Will i ever get that workout back ? Also having the same problem as other people, different values from the health app to the fitness app for stand hours, active calories, resting calories, stand hours...and it doesn’t even measure the environmental sound data! Also half of these things the past data is now gone

I was having the same issues until warranty replacement a few days ago due Apple Pay sensor not working. Following setup of replacement phone from backup (iCloud) my watch and phone are now syncing correctly. Workout maps are also back for new workouts but still no maps for old work data.

Takes a little while but may be worth backing phone up to iCloud or iTunes and then do a full factory reset before restoring from back up.

I have an iPhone XS and just purchased/upgraded to the series 6 watch, from a series 2.

Workouts do not consistently show up in the activity app at all.

If workouts do come through to the phone, chunks of heart rate readings are missing and there is no map of the route I ran/hiked.

Heart rate readings do show fully on the watch, they just don’t sync.

Metrics are applied to closure of the rings on the phone, but workouts don’t come through.

Map is also missing from all workouts that occurred prior to upgrading to iOS 14.

I have unpaired and repaired numerous times. Spent ~3 hours total on the phone with support.

Went to Apple store, they had me reset my phone. That caused me to get a few workouts to come through but then it went right back to not syncing correctly.

This is incredibly frustrating. Especially when you pay so much for the phone and watch. Hope there is a solution soon or I’ll be returning my watch and getting a Garmin instead as activity tracking is the main thing I for which I use the watch.
