Apple TV 3rd gen YouTube freezes when pausing video

Same problem. Exactly right after the latest update and my Apple 3rd Gen will freeze when I pause any YouTube video. Hope a fix is in the works to address this bug, because if this issue goes on, I’m switching to my existing Google Chromecast for a better experience using Google products on Google devices.

I tried running the "Music" app on iMac but there was no " tiny Apply TV symbol under Account."

Any suggestions ?

Having same issue. Rebooting didn’t really help. Don’t want to downgrade. Will this be fixed sometime soon? Apple come on lately having issues with iPhone X as well. Lost half of contacts during iOS upgrade. These things shouldn’t be happening

But am I the only one that thinks that downgrading technology is going backwards.? Maybe “if you break it, then you’ll fix it.” That reminds me I’m due for a downgrade...

Hi Kutiel, I do it, and works perfectly in mi aptv3. Try it, be careful because the apple tv3 have 2 models, aptv 3 3.1, and 3.2.

The aptv3.1 is the model A1427

the aptv3.2 is the model A1469

and every model have a different IPSW, how I explain.

Same issue here. iTunes is one of the worst designed/programmed apps I’ve ever used, so no surprise that something as simple as pausing a video on Youtube would cripple the device. Also no surprise that Apple hasn’t done anything to fix it yet. I think it’s time I start to rid my life of Apple. I can only give these guys so many chances.

As an alternative we can always go open-source with the RaspberryPi and have fun doing it, too.

Not only is the Apple TV Gen3 update issue a fiasco, so is the iPhone update from ios v12 -to- v13 -- that miserable update removes the autonomous "Find iPhone" app with the "Find My" worthless utility which basically relies upon the browser to do device location query.

I agree -- it is time to begin migration away from the Apple ecosystem.

I wouldn't know anything about the iPhone update causing that problem as iTunes will not, no matter what steps I take, perform the update LOL. I guess that's a good thing. Thanks for the links, I'll have a look.

Living with Apple TV: when I press pause by mistake, I wait a few minutes for the Apple TV to reset on its own. I use this waiting time to reflect on life.... should I replace my Apple TV, or continue to reflect on life...

There is no "never ask me again" option. There is only "ask me later". It pops up occasionally and you have to be very careful to make the right choice. The default choice is "do it to it" and I accidentally selected it so I had to repeat the entire download and install process.

People are replacing Apple TV with alternatives. I want to do that, but Apple TV lets me stream not only from the internet, but also from my computer. I worry that I can't stream from my computer with an alternative. And even if it is possible I don't want a file view of my media. I need to see it organized as is done in iTunes.

I also have this problem. It is unbelievable that a company would issue an update that is not fully tested, then not respond quickly to fix the issue. Being referred to Youtube's invisible support is ridiculous The 3rd generation can only have updates provided by Apple the Apps are all part of the Apple software and can not be updated any other way.

I don't understand why a company - Apple can send an update that damages equipment that they have sold. Imagine General motors updating your cars software so it doesn't have sat nav or automatic wash wipe any more?

Same issue with my Apple TV my YouTube will freeze once I press pause and have wait for a minute or so if to go to the main screen. Come on Apple you can do better... Or are you giving a message to people move to Android. Such a small fix taking too long.. Frustrating.......

So after rolling back the OS to fix this my ATV decides to update overnight while I was sleeping. Thanks Apple so great “It just works” right! Fix this for fs it’s been months! Disgusting service no more buying Apple products with this BS.
