iPhone volume low on calls

After updating my XR to iOS 14 the phone call volume is really low also with in-call volume set to max. Is anybody else having this issue?

Does anybody know, how to solve it without factory reset?

Have you tried taking a new toothbrush and some baby wipes and cleaning the ear speaker? My son was playing with my wife’s phone the other day with dirty hands as usual and she just updated her phone so I thought it was the update, and maybe to some degree it was making the speaker more sensitive to blockage than before the update, but I spent an hour or two researching and found a video that suggested cleaning the speaker. I did so, with a lot of debris caked in there from the last 6months of her giving the phone to our son and, presto! Phone is fixed. If you have kids or grandkids and they get their hands on your phone, could be due to that.

You must adjust the volume with the volume buttons while you are on an active call. If you are not on a call the volume buttons only adjust the ringer volume. If that isn’t the problem either there is dirt in the speakers on your phone, or your 5 year old phone is broken.

BTW, you have posted to a user-to-user forum. Idle threats are useless; no one here cares what you buy.

Hi,

the issue continues also after 14.0.1 update. Of course I tried restart, with no effect.

  1. Speaker mode and headphones are fine. Low volume is noticeable only using the receiver.
  2. It happens all time. No relation to location.
  3. Yes it is. It is happening with every contact and with both SIMs (i am using also esim).

I hope you will solve the issue soon. With this volume, the phone is almost unusable.

Best regards!

Marek

I’m also having this issue. I tried resetting the settings only without any luck. Also tried all the other stuff like disable noise cancellation, disable Bluetooth restarting the phone etc. I’m 100% sure this was caused by the update to IOS 14.x.

@apple please fix this issue! Or at least in meantime provide a workaround.

Im having the same problem with my iPhone X. Only call volume on the phone- no where else. I can’t hear ans I have to use AirPods always or the speaker. I think @apple forgot that it’s a PHONE. It’s been going on for months now and I also think it has to do with the update.

I can’t believe there are so many people with this problem and apple hasn’t done anything about it yet and it wasn’t fixed in the update.
