iPhone volume low on calls

After updating my XR to iOS 14 the phone call volume is really low also with in-call volume set to max. Is anybody else having this issue?

Does anybody know, how to solve it without factory reset?

Have you tried taking a new toothbrush and some baby wipes and cleaning the ear speaker? My son was playing with my wife’s phone the other day with dirty hands as usual and she just updated her phone so I thought it was the update, and maybe to some degree it was making the speaker more sensitive to blockage than before the update, but I spent an hour or two researching and found a video that suggested cleaning the speaker. I did so, with a lot of debris caked in there from the last 6months of her giving the phone to our son and, presto! Phone is fixed. If you have kids or grandkids and they get their hands on your phone, could be due to that.

Having this same issue. Have tried all trouble shooting. Apple support blames carrier and carrier blames apple. I had this same issue with last phone did apple update loss volume in call speaker never was resolved. I had to get a new phone same thing now did last update and lossed almost all call volume unless it's on speaker or Bluetooth. It's funny that everytime it happens it's when my apple warranty has recently expired. A new phone seems to be the resolution and unfortunately this will probably be the time apple looses me to Android.

I received a used IPhone XR from Gazelle. It is running IOS 14.5. Just as others have reported, the voice on an incoming phone call is barely audible unless I use the speaker phone. The volume is maxed and I have tried most of the suggestion, except for a reset. I previously had a 6s which was running some version of 14 and I did not have this problem. Music and other audio through speakers works fine. I am hearing that Apple blames the carriers and there is no known definitive fix for this. Any more information about what to expect ? I was getting ready to contact Gazelle about either a replacement or to report that they hadn’t fully tested this phone. Then I read this forum.

I have talked to apple support already, but the operator could not find the solution. The conclusion of the call was, that i should contact the service center. (Call ID: 101189064513).

The answer from the technician in the service center was: “I can see the issue is happening, but it is not a hardware issue. You can try the factory reset.”

I have tried the factory reset already with no effect on this issue.

So I am asking, is the only solution to solve this issue buying a new android? I am really disappointed of this.

Still no solution from apple that I’m aware of. I also still have this issue. It’s getting pretty annoying....

Currently running iOS 14.3 on the XR.

hopefully they will release a patch soon.

PS: i know someone who also has an XR, same cellular provider also on iOS 14.3 not experiencing this issue. The only difference between the two phone I can tell is the storage capacity. Mine is 128gb as the other is 64gb....

I have reset phone, check sound setting. iPhone is updated. Nothing dirty or damaged.

This happens anytime I am using the phone for a call. Speaker is ok, using the airpods works fine. Otherwise I can not hear anyone on a phone call.

I purchased this phone a year ago (pre-iOS 14) and all worked fine. I believe it is in some configuration update.

The speaker is not damaged in any way.
