microsoft outlook app - not showing notification PREVIEW on lock or unlock screen

Hi,

I have the same problem. In my case notification not working only for IMAP configuration accounts. E.g If i configure my gmail account via IMAP i have not receive any notifications, but if it is standard configuration it works fine. Could you please confirm is it your case also?

Could anyone please fix this issue? In current situation (COVID) this bug drives me crazy :( I cannot receive emails from my students on time.

@peter_watt No it does not work. Apparently you have not tried this with IMAP accounts?

This has always worked until apple launched ios 14.

The link in your previous post has nothing to do with the issue, and is related to a fix concerning subfolders and something prior to ios14.

I just got a notification on my locked screen about you reply Peter!! What seems to have made the difference is that I deleted my IMAP account in the Contacts section that is found in the settings area. Eventhough I had set Outlook to my default email app in Mail, it somehow conflicted. Previous to this I had tried everything you can imagine - reinstalling outlook, deleting and reconfiguring the mail account and ofcourse making sure everything was updated.

I am not sure why deleting the account in contacts worked, since outlook was set as default mail client, but it did. I am tempted to believe that eventhough Outlook was set as default, the new messages somehow was pulled by the internal mail handling code, and therefore somehow was not seen as "new" messages by outlook.

I did, unfortunately the support language was polish, and they answered in Polish, despite the fact that the question was in English. Nevertheless, i'm not entirely sure is the sophisticated answering machine replied me or support member without any reliable information. But they say that: "...this functionality was removed after update and it is no longer available." They can't say why it was removed or when the problem will be fixed. Is hard to determined where the problem is? Is it on the IOS level or on the application level.

Using a microsoft account for contacts has caused problems for me in the past and your analysis will be valuable in future.

I have identical contacts in both icloud.com and outlook.com as I too wade through the mud of competing platforms.

Sorry. The outlook support told me that this functionality (pushing notifications on IMAP) was removed after update.

But i'm not sure it is true, because the answers was similar to those generating by answering machines.

I've tried several different things but the only one that really worked for me was deleting and reinstalling the App. It reminds me of that old joke "If Microsoft made cars…"

Btw, I had to do the same on Teams and Office Lens.

Unfortunately, in my case deleting and reinstalling the app not working either. I'm just curious, what seems to be a problem from programming perspective for taking so long to patch this issue? Is it of the OS level or the app level? I'm currently install 14.4 update, maybe that helps.

Apple do not write the Microsoft App.

btw My iphone 7 with 14.3 and 14.4 gives notifications loud and clear as shown earlier. Check your notificstion settings again match mine (page back)

Hi, I just fixed the same problem. Try the following:

1. deleted email account from outlook app
2. then deleted outlook app
3. downloaded app again
4. add email account again

It works now! I hope this helps !

I received this response from Microsoft support team on the issue of IMAP auto sync and notification failure.

it seems a bug in app only.

This worked for me.

Go to settings - outlook - notifications

At the bottom look for "show previews" and set it to always.

My Iphone SE is running 14.0.1 and is experiencing the same issue. Notification just shows

New Message

Open Outlook to read your message

Notifications are set to all.

What is the next step.
