iOS 14 sleep wake up alarm sound not working on iPhone

Since updating to iOS 14 on my iPhone XR and watchOS 7 on my Apple Watch Series 3, my Sleep/Wake Up alarm sound (Early Riser) does not work on my iPhone. My watch vibrates to wake me but there is no activity on my iPhone. Prior to the updates, my watch vibrated AND my phone sounded the alarm. I preferred that.

I have made sure that my volume is turned up on Sounds & Haptics under the Sleep app as well as under Settings. Do Not Disturb is set to end at my Wake Up time.

I too was having this Issue and it was driving me insane. I don't like wearing my watch when I sleep. I finally figured out how to turn it off from the watch and let it play through your phone!

Go into the clock app on your iPhone --> alarm/wake and click "change" --> click "edit schedule" --> scroll down and click "options"--> scroll down and click "manage sleep in the Apple Watch app --> scroll down and click "don't use this watch for alarm".

***NOTE: This will not vibrate your watch or play any part of the alarm through your watch! It will only play on your iPhone***

I am experiencing the same issue. I have two Apple watches, a series 3 (which I wear to bed) and a series 5 (for my everyday), which both will sound the wake up alarm (the series 3 I have on theater mode, so it vibrates), but my phone does not sound since upgrading to iOS14. I hope this issue is resolved swiftly, as I am definitely not an morning person and would like to use this function.

I’m having a similar issue. I’m using bedtime mode on my phone, but since updating my iPhone 7 to iOS 14, the alarm sound First Light does not play from my phone, nor does my phone vibrate. I set the volume all the way up, as well. I’ve been late for class the past couple of days because of the alarm not going off. I don’t have an Apple Watch, (granted, since I’m a broke college student) so I don’t even get any subtle vibrations to wake me up. This is a serious issue that needs fixing.

I think I may have figured it out and it looks like there is no solution to my issue as designed by Apple. In the Sleep/Wake Up set up/change feature under "Alarm Options," there's a note that reads, "When you wear your Apple Watch to bed, the alarm will got off on your watch."

I permanently keep my Apple Watch on silent mode as I don't want sounds and alerts beeping at me all day long --- I get enough of those from my computer and phone. So, the alarm ONLY sounds on the Apple Watch and NOT the iPhone when you wear your watch to bed. And if you have your Apple Watch on silent mode, you will only get the vibration on your watch to wake you.

This is less than ideal.

I had the same issue this morning and overslept an hour. I noticed the same note under alarm options but when I woke this morning and looked at my watch it was on the 7am alarm screen (with dismiss or snooze options) yet it was 7:59 and I swear it hadn’t vibrated as I usually feel it and I had been semi-awake. Not good. It feels like the whole system is trying to be too clever for its own good and missing the main purpose!

I’ve never set up the sleep function on my watch nor have I ever worn it to bed + I haven’t worn my watch in a week and it’s been on the charger. Since iOS 14.0.1 when my alarm goes off in the morning using the sleep feature it ONLY goes off on my watch and not my phone. Extremely frustrating given that I barely hear my watch going off and I didn’t even set up my watch with the sleep feature to begin with....

Same issue. Wear watch 5 to sleep for tracking. Before iOS 14 update bedtime alarm would ring on phone and vibrate watch. Watch on silent and theater mode when sleeping, silent mode all the time.

After iOS 14 update, no sound from phone and only haptic from watch. This is not enough to wake me up. Have turned off use watch for sleep in health app, same results.

The inability to control what device sounds the alarm is unacceptable as I don’t want my watch to make noise all the time and it could be buried under a pillow.

users should have the ability to determine source of alarm sound.
