iOS 14 sleep wake up alarm sound not working on iPhone

Since updating to iOS 14 on my iPhone XR and watchOS 7 on my Apple Watch Series 3, my Sleep/Wake Up alarm sound (Early Riser) does not work on my iPhone. My watch vibrates to wake me but there is no activity on my iPhone. Prior to the updates, my watch vibrated AND my phone sounded the alarm. I preferred that.

I have made sure that my volume is turned up on Sounds & Haptics under the Sleep app as well as under Settings. Do Not Disturb is set to end at my Wake Up time.

I too was having this Issue and it was driving me insane. I don't like wearing my watch when I sleep. I finally figured out how to turn it off from the watch and let it play through your phone!

Go into the clock app on your iPhone --> alarm/wake and click "change" --> click "edit schedule" --> scroll down and click "options"--> scroll down and click "manage sleep in the Apple Watch app --> scroll down and click "don't use this watch for alarm".

***NOTE: This will not vibrate your watch or play any part of the alarm through your watch! It will only play on your iPhone***

Have been reading through replies and comments on Sleep/Wake iphone. I always had iPhone wake me in morning using the Sleep/wake. Just upgraded to ios14 and also just upgraded to an Apple Watch 6 with os7. I DO NOT wear my watch to bed. It is in my home office on charger. Since these upgrades, my phone DOES NOT sound alarm or vibrate on wakeup but my watch on charger sounds alarm. Have searched everywhere but no fix yet.

I will continue reading through these comments hoping there is an answer somewhere down the chain of comments.

That would be a great idea.

This issue still persists for me and many others who have already updated both phone and watch to the latest iteration of

They moved Alarm Clock out of Clock, because of course they did... Now there is no obvious way to set it for every day. So my alarm isn't waking me up for incredibly important business meetings, but I can group apps together... nice fail guys.

You can set a recurring alarm through the Clock app exactly the way you could under iOS 13 by tapping the "+" in the upper right corner of the "Alarm" page and setting your alarm.

I think that would be a good compromise over having to reverse the new design. If you ever get to that level of support again, maybe you could make a suggestion that you think might work for everyone.

It's a good suggestion. You should make it yourself:

I have the same issue, everything worked fine until the latest update. I have tried everything and cannot get the audible alarm to come on in the morning, very frustrating. I would probably be OK if they would just add early riser alarm to the general alarm screen, but I do want to track my sleep to and do not want toWhere are my Apple Watch to bed because I will not have time to charge it before work. Come on Apple fix this!

Same issue here, the alarm got useless for me unfortunately.

I am also disappointed that there is no answer from Apple in this thread, it got kind of big already, a lot of people do have the same challenge.

Answer from tech support is kind of useless, so it appears if you yell the loudest, settings will get changed? So, I want the clock to have 13 hours a day, it’s just enough...

This not a solution if you wear your watch to bed for sleep tracking.

I just switched from an Apple Watch series 2 to a series 5 and the vibration worked from my watch while in silent mode and the alarm went off on the phone. Furthermore the vibration on the series 5 seems very weak compared to the series 2. If I can’t figure out how to get the sound working I’m going back to my series 2 and returning my series 5

So is there a fix for this? I've had the same issue since the last iOS update came out that messed up the whole sleep schedule functionality. I've complained to Apple and sent feedback like 10 times now... Zero response.

I've now not woken up in the morning 4 times because the alarm essentially doesn't go off (it goes off on the screen of my iPhone but no sound is made so it's basically a silent alarm). I've tried adjusting sound, changing settings, nothing works. Alarm has gone off on a couple of nights but I can't figure out what made it go off properly, other than sound maxed out, and now that's now working either. I had to buy an alarm clock because I can no longer rely on the iPhone to wake me up, which made the whole sleep schedule thing useless. My husband switched to using the actual static "alarm"function instead of bedtime / sleep schedule, which is terrible! That sound, in turn, could wake up the dead straight into a march.

I don't wear my Apple Watch to bed, both of them go on chargers on the opposite end of the bedroom.

Has anyone figured out how to make the alarm go off audibly again for bedtime / sleep schedule?

I also HATE that there's no longer a way to easily adjust the alarm time like there was in bedtime before this update. Now you can only sleep or adjust this one only, and that function is super unreliable as well.

Dear Apple, please bring back the old sleep schedule!!!!! It worked so good, there was no reason to change it, and you completely broke it with the update.

thanks,

Ester
