Battery Life

I heard that you’re supposed to charge your phone fully before the first initial use to guarantee optimum battery life. Is this true?

No, that's a neutral operation: no benefit and no harm.

battery damage i have an iphone 8 plus, ios 13.5, i connect my phone to charge and it will disconnect and connect agin i thought that maybe it would be my charger but i’ve tried it on different chargers and it does the same thing. i’ve restarted it like twice and shut it down .my maximum capacity is at 77%. i dont know if there’s anything that can help it.
