Tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

and removed the wifi network on the phone.

Same problem when I try to connect to the hotspot on my Ipad.

WIfi on the ipad Pro with ios 14.0.1 is working fine.

I think I've found a solution for my iPhone se 2020, by switching off private addresses it seems to of solved the dropping out and slow broadband problem although I'm not sure this is a long term solution.

Same issue here. Updated to iOS 14.0.1 yesterday and the WiFi first seemed to work (wifi symbol instead of “4G” and my phone was connected to my network) but in the WiFi settings it said that the WiFi was off. Then I got disconnected, got 4G/3G connectivity, and couldn’t turn on the WiFi (the button is stuck at off).

I’ve tried everything (from Network Reset to factory reset, restoring from backup), and now I’ve also tried to delete/disable VPN services + rebooting the phone. Nothing seems to work. My next step is to go to an Apple store and let them have a go. I’m as relieved as I’m sad to see so many others reporting the same problem...

I have this same problem. Got on Apple Chat and they were most unhelpful, but they made an appointment with my Best Buy store to go in.

There, the tech tells me that MY WIFI ANTENNA IS SMOKED. Due to the ios14 update? Come on. And to replace that on my iPhone X is only $549. This is absolutely a software issue and not a hardware issue, as my wifi antenna worked just fine the minute before I updated, and then stopped working the minute after I updated.

I can not toggle my Wifi on and off. Sometimes, it will show me connected to my home wifi, and if I turn off cellular data, I can still get online, so the wifi is working. But only at my house - when I go to work I am unable to connect to the work wifi as I cannot select which Wifi I want to be on from the list.

Here's hoping another update comes out soon...

Alas! After trying everything, I have finally found THE solution for once and for all.

Sadly, that solution involves what we all feared, which is backing up our phones and doing a complete reset (settings and content). Then, just restore from backup and your wifi capability will be fully restored!

After many days of dealing with this annoying issue, both mine and my gf’s iPhones are back to working 100%.

Thanks everyone for helping to look for solutions like I was. Phew! It’s all over now and we can go back on with our lives. Lol

I'm sorry to be a party pooper, but tried this yesterday with no luck... It seems like my Wi-Fi problem has been incorporated into the backup, so whenever I try to restore my phone from my backup after resetting it, the problem came back.

Right now I'm trying to save my photos at least, so I can reset my phone to factory settings and set it up as a brand new device... :-/

Same issue, My iphone loses internet access & need to restart the router several times till it regains its access , This happens only with ny home Router, doesnt occur on other routers, all other home devices work well , nothing wrong with router, Dont know when exactly this started but I think after installing iOS 14. I hope could be solved soon because it’s annoying me, currently writing this message from cellular data.

Same issue but also affected internet data on my phone data plan. How it got fixed— we disabled my VPN. With this update the VPN basically stopped internet connection before it could get established. All that has to do is VPN keeping your tablet/phone’s identity out of the loop, so to speak. Once VPN was shut down I got my internet data connectivity back and could connect to and use WiFi again. Kudos to local sharp T-mobile sales guy who identified and fixed the problem (at least in my case).

As others have pointed out, this appears to be a bug related to Wi-Fi Assist. As a workaround, go into Settings/Cellular. Scroll aaaaaalll the way down to the bottom and turn off Wi-Fi Assist.

Neither my wife's iPhone 8 nor my XR could reliably connect to the internet this morning (devices without a cellular connection were unaffected). Disabling Wi-Fi Assist seems to have solved the problem. Hopefully Apple will address this bug in the next update.

I had the same problem as well. I did not have Bitdefender either however my ISP provides Macafee security and it was for some reason trying to open a VPN connection. Maybe it uses it to connect but not sure at this point. I just disabled my VPN in settings and problem is gone. I did notice that before I turned VPN off I would see a very small VPN flash in upper right hand corner of iPhone screen that I hadn’t seen before. That was my clue.

Mine are the same. My iPhone SE2, my son’s SE1 and my iPad. All had wifi issues since last update. I thought it was the router at 1st but other device (smart plugs, Alexa and laptop) all working fine.

But my son could use my iPhone as hotspot for internet with my phone running 4G.

Ran through forget the SSID, left it 5mins then hard reboot, left 5 mins and re-added. It’s still hit and miss.

“SOLVED” (yes, quote-unquote): After having tried everything myself (including but not limited to deleting VPN services, turning off WiFi assist, resetting network setting, factory reset+recovering from backup), the people at the local Apple store scratched their heads as their diagnostics showed that my WiFi unit was not working (but the Bluetooth was fine), and didn’t know what else to do other than to perform yet another factory reset WITHOUT recovering using my backup, thus setting it up as a new device...
