Any WiFi router that has MAC filter enabled may not accept the “Private” MAC address feature of the new feature added in iOS 14.0.1 to each WiFi profile saved. Turning off the private Mac Address on the specific WiFi profile may allow your device to connect.

Another issue is it connects fine but moments later it prompts for password on a saved profile. Turning off “wifi assist” in Cellular settings (absolute bottom of the list) will allow the device to remain connected on weaker range areas of this wifi profile.

I suspect the failing over to WiFi profile flip flopping is triggering a false positive on the algorithm that the wifi profile saved is incorrect and thus asks for a re-authentication.

I have a WiFi router and a wifi extender. I constantly find that I am connected to WiFi but there is no internet. As a quick fix I have to deselect and then enable WiFi for my iPhone and it will connect back to the internet. A more permanent solution was to connect to my router and change my router channel to channel 11. This fixed my internet and now I am always connected.

“SOLVED” (yes, quote-unquote): After having tried everything myself (including but not limited to deleting VPN services, turning off WiFi assist, resetting network setting, factory reset+recovering from backup), the people at the local Apple store scratched their heads as their diagnostics showed that my WiFi unit was not working (but the Bluetooth was fine), and didn’t know what else to do other than to perform yet another factory reset WITHOUT recovering using my backup, thus setting it up as a new device...

I'm happy for you. But I believe that if this really were the right and effective solution for everyone, this debate would have been over for many weeks. Unfortunately, that is not the case. So far, the only really effective solution in any case, is just to initialize the iPhone and reconfigure from scratch, without using any backups. Remedy certainly decisive... but what a disaster!
