iOS 14.0.1 wifi issues

In my point of view it is a bug. because it gives only "weak security" warning, seems connected to my home network, however does not work healthy. I needed to renew my wifi connection frequently. If Apple would announce that they don't support anymore these type of encryption that is OK, not a bug. I haven't seen any announcement regarding this issue, have you?

Lawrence, I'm still troubleshooting this with Apple Support. More time on the phone and repeating the same old steps (reset to factory and restore for the 4th time), which wasted a lot of time and solved nothing.

In the Developers Forum, there are discussions about Apple implementing DoH in iOS14 and the problems it caused with wifi. Symptoms sound very familiar. Any comment?

Just upgraded my mom from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 12 and my dad from the iPhone SE to the iPhone 11and they instantly started complaining that there is no internet. They continuously have to disable then enable WiFi for it to work. They keep complaining and want to go back to their old phones. Whatever Apple did to “improve” WiFi like the weak security message or the private address screwed it up.

Further to my most recent post on this thread Hardware reset got WiFi working. Downloaded my apple apps etc and all rest (with the fuzzy ball) and worked whilst downloading apps but then as if by magic turned off again!!! FFS I am soooooo annoyed :-( come on APPLE SORT IT OUT!!!!!

Same problem here. Intermittent WiFi, more off than on. iPad 14.0.1. Tried all the recommended fixes, nothing works.

Since you mentioned that it’s dropping in certain parts of your home I wonder if it’s the Wi-Fi assist feature where it switches to cellular if your Wi-Fi connection is weak or slow.

@lanstrad1 The Mac filter “could be” on the AP web gui if you have access to manage that.

FYI, I am not an Apple Employee just offering my insights as to where problems may have been introduced.

You need to turn OFF automatic updates on all your devices. When the bugs are removed, you can manually update.

Trust me, one bad update can disable all your devices.

DO NOT JUST try to shut it off. I had the same problem (keep reconnecting) : Remove it! (Delete the app). And please go to 14.1 ASAP. 14.0.1 is indeed full of issues.

Tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

and removed the wifi network on the phone.

Same problem when I try to connect to the hotspot on my Ipad.

WIfi on the ipad Pro with ios 14.0.1 is working fine.

Yes I updated to this software the other day and I am getting the reoccurring WIFI disconnecting issue, please Apple do us all a favour and release a new software update as we are all suffering here..

Ok, but speaking for myself here at least, I don't have the "Bitdefender" app or any other VPN apps on my iPhone for that matter. And I'm still having this major issue whereby my iPhone (on iOS 14.0.1) cannot use WiFi.

Therefore, I somehow doubt that most other people experiencing this seemingly common issue all have VPN apps that are causing it.

I have an Iphone XR, a week ago I have upgraded to ios 14.0.1. Frequently I am facing with wifi problems. Although wifi image shows that I am connected to wifi network applications give no internet connection error. Simultaneously I can reach to the same apps through the same network with my other devices.

Additionally when I turn off/on Wifi on my iphone it connects to the network, however does not show any network.

Same here. everything fine till 14.0.1 upgrade, then wifi just drops for no apparent reason. It’s getting really annoying as I only get 4g for 24 hours if I go out, which isn’t often since working from home. Please apple fix your code!
