Any WiFi router that has MAC filter enabled may not accept the “Private” MAC address feature of the new feature added in iOS 14.0.1 to each WiFi profile saved. Turning off the private Mac Address on the specific WiFi profile may allow your device to connect.

Another issue is it connects fine but moments later it prompts for password on a saved profile. Turning off “wifi assist” in Cellular settings (absolute bottom of the list) will allow the device to remain connected on weaker range areas of this wifi profile.

I suspect the failing over to WiFi profile flip flopping is triggering a false positive on the algorithm that the wifi profile saved is incorrect and thus asks for a re-authentication.

Same issue here. Both me and my wife’s phones updated to 14.0.1. Getting unable to connect. Done all basic troubleshooting, restarting router resetting network settings, etc. Sometimes they connect for a few minutes but lose connection quickly. Our smart TVs and our laptops are working and can connect fine so it’s not anything with the router. Very frustrating

We have been having the exact same WiFi issue on our iPhones since updating to iOS 14.0.0. Then we updated to iOS 14.0.1 with the hopes that it would fix this issue like it was supposed to but still no luck. We have also tried doing the "Reset Network Settings" multiple times and forgetting our WiFi network and rejoining it. Nothing is working!

All of our laptops and connected devices in our house still work perfectly, so we know it's not an issue with our router or anything.

Apple needs to fix this asap!

Same issue here. Updated to iOS 14.0.1 yesterday and the WiFi first seemed to work (wifi symbol instead of “4G” and my phone was connected to my network) but in the WiFi settings it said that the WiFi was off. Then I got disconnected, got 4G/3G connectivity, and couldn’t turn on the WiFi (the button is stuck at off).

I’ve tried everything (from Network Reset to factory reset, restoring from backup), and now I’ve also tried to delete/disable VPN services + rebooting the phone. Nothing seems to work. My next step is to go to an Apple store and let them have a go. I’m as relieved as I’m sad to see so many others reporting the same problem...

I have this same problem. Got on Apple Chat and they were most unhelpful, but they made an appointment with my Best Buy store to go in.

There, the tech tells me that MY WIFI ANTENNA IS SMOKED. Due to the ios14 update? Come on. And to replace that on my iPhone X is only $549. This is absolutely a software issue and not a hardware issue, as my wifi antenna worked just fine the minute before I updated, and then stopped working the minute after I updated.

I can not toggle my Wifi on and off. Sometimes, it will show me connected to my home wifi, and if I turn off cellular data, I can still get online, so the wifi is working. But only at my house - when I go to work I am unable to connect to the work wifi as I cannot select which Wifi I want to be on from the list.

Here's hoping another update comes out soon...

Having the same issue - MacBook Air is fine, and every other device connected to our WiFi is fine, but iPhone has rarely connected to WiFi since updating to iOS 14.0.1...which can be a problem when you have to call over WiFi because you don't even get LTE at your home...phone is basically useless until they release another version to fix this.

Tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings, shutting down iPhone, forgetting network, none of it works. Occasionally works if I share my WiFi password from my MacBook, but most of the time just says "Unable to connect".

Newest iPad Pro 11 + iPhoneX, both on iOS 14 and then 14.1. Total mess up considering wifi, on iPhone x battery issues on top.

In house on top of mentioned, 2x newest MacBook Pro, iMac, iPhone 8plus, iPhone8, iPad Pro 10,5, iPad mini, ZERO PROBLEMS WITH WIFI BUT remaining iOS devices still running iOS 13. Clearly system issue. I have done on iPad Pro:

forget network

reset network settings

reset routers

no vpns/no private IP

factory reset and starting from clear

NOTHING HELPS!!!!

I’m experiencing the same issue since yesterday after 4pm.

I went to apple store, they checked my iPhone, they told me that the diagnosis report shows that everything is ok, Wi-Fi is ok.

I asked so what to do, he answered since your guaranty is expired you have to change your iPhone and buy one.

however by exploring the forums related to this issue, we conclude that it’s apple issue due to the latest iOS update

If you actually understand what I posted, while I didn’t say so explicitly, since you said you updated to iOS 14.1 and still had the problem I DID comment on 14.1.

So to be absolutely explicit about how you should have read my post:

iOS 14.1 DID resolve a Wi-Fi problem. Which means that your problem is not the same as the 14.0.1 problem that others had. You have an unrelated problem. There can be more than one cause for Wi-Fi problems; more like dozens.

I’ve narrowed down my particular WiFi issues to my phone switching from WiFi to Data. Often. As in a lot. However this issue didn’t start until the morning of my update. It appears some kind of signal changed. Maybe even my WiFi router capability with the update. The update definitely changed my ability to send/receive/connect using WiFi.

I checked for a newer update, there’s one waiting for me to update. 14.2, We shall see how this goes.

I am aware that apple has a bug in ios 14 and upper versions to support these encryption methods.

There is no such bug. Apple and iOS are happy to let you use insecure encryption methods. All that iOS is telling you is that your router is hackable and always has been. But you can continue to use your hackable router as long as you want to; it won’t interfere with your phone using Wi-Fi. It’s just a warning that bad people can monitor the traffic through your router.

If you have a problem with Wi-Fi it has nothing to do with that warning, and you need to troubleshoot it as you would any Wi-Fi issue.
