iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1 Sound Issues

Ever since updating to iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1, I’ve had sound issues with the iPhone 11 Pro. Sound volume is extremely low for calls on speakerphone, watching YouTube videos, and listening to music.

Has anyone else experienced these issues?

iPhone 6, iOS 12

The Apple rep first had me plug my phone into a pc then update my iTunes software then press the volume up button release then press the volume down button release. Then press the power button and hold it down until the phone rebooted to the Apple.

then I went on iTunes it should have a message pop up that says downloading I’m not sure what but it took about 25-30 minutes it looks like it’s just sitting there but if it says downloading your good. Once completed it asked you to pick a date to restore to I went back to before the update. Once it finished I setup my phone up like new but all my info came back and the sound is working weird thing is the software is the update. Good luck

I upgraded to IOS 14 and my sound on my calls I hear a screeching sound. When I Skype I can’t hear or barely hear the person I call. I had to put on subtitles. I’m trying to download the 14.2 but it seems to be stuck. I tried putting it on an external speaker but than the person I’m calling can’t hear me. Very frustrating especially the screeching during a call. Phone a very expensive paper weight.

I have this problem for more than a month, Apple does not take care to at least answer our messages. if they did this problem to make us buy iPhone 12, they are completely wrong, because me and several of my friends had the same problem since the upgrade to ios 14, we are seriously thinking to go for other brands. it is really irresponsible at apple not to treat this problem with great attention, their update has affected millions of our telephones. It is clear that we will no longer buy Apple products if they continue to ignore it. Boycott is a more effective way to push Apple to wake up.

So now I know that all devices can be hacked by Apple. To make you upgrade or repair your device. Hackers are here to stay but why would someone not affiliated with Apple do this and why wouldn’t they tell you at Apple that your device has been hacked to loose sound in the hardware and application.....

hum riddle me this......

my phone has 256G and worked fine till last update.... go figure.....

Same problem here, plus I can barely hear music even with volume all the way up.

First thing I've done since this happened is turn off automatic software updates.

In the future, I'll only update after it has been out a few weeks, after I read of any bugs caused by the updates.

This is a royal pain. This isn't intended as Apple bashing, because I really do wonder how these huge bugs go undetected before leaving the developers.

Apple products are excellent, so why can't I say the same about system updates?

I hope they are aware of this problem and working on a fix.

I’m having the exact same issue on my iPhone 8.. ever since installing an apple update.. I am kind of relieved reading this as I thought, “Am I losing my mind? ..Using the speaker on my phone, I can barely hear anything” ..I’m so sad that it’s actually an install, maybe apple is up to their old tricks!! I am keeping this phone until it dies apple! That’s what I do, buy great products, home, car (Audi) and keep them for a long time.. better on the environment! Please Apple, fix this serous issue.. Otherwise, I can promise you, I will switch over to Google, Samsung or just any one of your other competitors. I love Apple products and have always supported you guys.. PLEASE fix this issue. 🙏

Sincerely,

Tina 🙂

Unfortunately I have the exact same issue with my brand new iPhone 11. I’m already in contact with Apple support, they don’t offer any solution. The staff in the Apple store even told me my phone was working perfectly fine and did not want to help at all.. They have to fix this soon as I’m afraid to smash my phone when my alarm goed off like a bomb

Well, I'm french, I just did the update for the 14.3 IOS and since I did that, like many many people around, I got two troubles :

1 - when i make a call, the sound is like the person I'm calling is on Mars ! I have to push my ear on the phone to hear it a little. When I put the speaker no problem.

2 - I can't use siri anymore. When i say "hey siri" it doesn't recognize my voice anymore. BUT when i start siri manually, he can understand without any problem my voice. By the way when i record a sound in a message the sound is very low to and many noice like it's a message from Mars again. On the video too.

As a phone is made to phone, it's a little annoying no ? I can make a call with the speaker but well it's not the point.

All is working fine for youtube, etc... Bluetooth too. I read and try like most of you all those settings tips around but helpless.

It was working fine and just after the update it wasn't. And it's not a setting problem, not a phone problem, it's an IOS firmware problem and it's a shame that apple didn't do anything since many months.

So any way to have my phone back ?

PS : I even try to delete all settings and data and start a new phone. Same thing.

PS 2 : i called Apple in France, they don't know the problem yet... Incredible.
