Apple Watch Series 6 - CONSTANTLY locking

I have had my new Apple Watch Series 6 for a few days and it is CONSTANTLY locking itself when I am wearing it. I have sports band and it is tight on my wrist. Any tighter and I would be cutting off circulation. I have cleaned the sensors on the back, and still no lock. I have rebooted it, and no luck. I unlock it with my PIN and within a minute or less it's locked itself. Never had this issue with my old watch.

Mine was triggered back in early October when the iOS update occurred. I shut off wrist detection and it solved the problem but did not allow several functions to work properly. Every WatchOS update since has not worked, including the most recent one. I tried everything you mentioned and zip.

I finally went to the Apple Store to show them what it was doing. They said it is most likely a hardware issue and are sending it to the engineers at Apple for further investigation. Fingers crossed it gets fixed.

Hello there

i always thought it was an update issue too as my watch was working fine for several months, and then I had this issue following an update. Looks like Apple have sorted the problem, as I did what you suggested; which I had tried before with no effect; so it appears the issue is solved as you say. So far phone hasn’t locked yet and passcode and wrist detection is still on. Tentative Yay! 🙋🏾‍♀️

At first when I tried this, I thought I spoke too soon as it was starting to re-lock again, but I wondered if it might also be if the watch thinks with the wrist detection that my watch is not on my wrist at times, as I like to wear it a little loose

I took a link out of the watch strap so there is no movement of the watch on the wrist, and I’ve tried it several times and it hasn’t locked.

I’m still nervous and keep checking to see if it’s all short lived, but at present it’s working fine.

I don’t fully trust it yet but I’ll see how I get on over the next couple of days.
