Homekit: "all home hubs are not responding"

Hi,

After the update of OS 14 of the iPhone and the Apple TV, my wife's iPhone (HomeKit guest) cannot remote control our home accessories. There is a notification saying that "all home hubs are not responding" and in the Home app of the iPhone the AppleTV is "Disconnected". On my iPhone everything is ok and I tried resetting all the devices and logging off and in on iCloud on my wife's iPhone.

Do you have the same issue?

Thx. I did reboot the phone, disabled 2 apple TV as hub, added a homepod as only hub. Rebooted all devices as well as my router. That seems to work for the last 24 hours without the constant error.

Another thing I discovered, my mesh network does a auto reboot every night

as maintenance (didn’t know this was set).

So that explains the error every night at least...

My friend can’t connect to my Home. My 2nd friend can just fine. Both are in other states. Done everything possible to try to fix it to my knowledge. I’ve ensured remote access is on, too.

Used to work for Apple. So when I say I’ve tried everything I know, it’s legit everything they taught. My Home Hub is ATV 4, updated to the latest software. The device having issues with connecting to Home and controlling accessories is an iPhone SE 2020.

  1. Restarted friend A phone
  2. Removed A from Home, re-added
  3. Made sure iCloud Keychain was on
  4. Disconnected / re-connected to wifi
  5. Uninstalled Home on A’s phone, re-installed
  6. Turned Home off and on again in A’s iCloud
  7. Reset iPhone
  8. Changed their Apple ID from an iCloud address to a Gmail one, then back again (as the other two friends I have, use Gmail Apple IDs, didn't think it would make a difference but tried anyway)
  9. I signed out of my ATV, then signed back in and restarted it
  10. Checked Settings > Messages > Blocked to ensure emails were not blocked
  11. Checked Settings > Cellular > Data and ensured Home had data access
  12. Checked to ensure their Home status showed Remote Access is ON

Their phone (iPhone SE 2020, updated to the latest software) says accessories unavailable and that Home Hub is disconnected, but it's not. And it keeps switching between Homehub responding/not.

They're in CA, I'm in TX. But it works just fine for my other friends in AZ and GA when testing it, just not my CA friend. Have no idea what the problem is.

Please help. This is irritating, to say the least, Apple really needs to invest more in Home and making it simpler and less buggy by now. It's 2021.

I have tried everything suggested and nothing works. Remote access and hubs work fine from my devices (owner) but no one else the home is shared with. This is ridiculous. And the only answer people on Reddit give is “get a new router” this is clearly not a networking issue. If it was it wouldn’t work for anyone. But it works for me.

Im ready to leave HomeKit forever. This is an Apple issue. My network is fine. I didn’t have any of these issues until randomly one day. Nothing changed in my setup.
