Virtual box Version 6.1.14 r140239 (Qt5.6.3) aborts Linux VMs

I am running a MacBook with 10.15.7. It aborts Centos 7 , 8 and Ubuntu 18.04 VMs. Tried removing and reinstalling Virtual Box. Also rebuilt VM with no change. Nothing I've seen out here fixes my issue.

Steps.

Launch VB gui and then double click Vm,

Brings up the boot menu

Starts the os

..aborts.

Tried headless start with same result.

Suggestions??

Can't speak to CentOS, but with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS guest in VB 6.1.14, the guest will launch and start the boot process, and without showing the grub menu, the screen and cursor go dark. If you move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen, you will see the VB menu, and in the Machine menu, select Reset. Another boot sequence will occur, and this time, in my own experience, the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Desktop appears.

Ensuring that the 6.1.14 Guest additions are updated after a Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Software update, does not (presently) cure the problem. A Ubuntu power off… and a restart selection results in a proper Ubuntu Desktop reappearing, but a shutdown, and a new guest launch recreates the first paragraph issue.

Contemplating purchasing an ASUS PN50 desktop, and ditching VirtualBox for Linux usage. One can install an rdx client on Ubuntu that works with Microsoft Remote Desktop on the Mac, and that is beginning to appeal more than the status quo.
