IOS14 severe battery drain on SE

No app can drain battery 10% every few minutes. You need a new battery.

I have not found any problems in 14.4 (except time zone bug in Beirut)

My battery worked great right before my ios14 update. The very next day I saw this lovely new behavior.. It clearly indicates software issue.

10% every few minutes? What part of the software is using power at that level?

Get a new battery.

Can be done, but the phone will nag you about having a fake battery.

Get Apple to do it for $49 and get a genuine battery and keep the option of future Apple service.

About genuine iPhone batteries 

So I have to say that even with the steps I’ve taken based on my conversation with apple support my battery continues to plummet throughout the day. I charge it multiple times a day because I use it all day long. There are occasions when I’m not using it, like sleeping, and it is not charging. It will drop 15-20% through the night. When I check for background usage, there is none. iOS 14.01 is a battery suck.

I'm having exactly the same issue. The battery health shows 91% on my 3 year old SE. I had problems on iOS 13 but solved by running the phone down under load and recharging several times. Now with iOS 14 things are much worse. After a couple of hours it's down suddenly to 1% just after showing maybe 30-40% then it reboots before dying on me. Problem here is I live in Malta and there is no local Apple support. Changing the battery at the local iCentre (non Apple) is at least €100. Getting pretty tired of this fiasco with battery life. I've turned off the background App refresh for most things but no change to battery life.

I agree to what he said. I have tried contacting apple support for couple times but they never give me a solution. But I hope that they have raised our concerns to the company so that apple can fix it with the next update. As of now I got used to my Phone draining so fast.

I understand what you're saying, however sudden battery drain after upgrading to iOS14 for so many SE users doesn't sound normal.

There is definitely something wrong with the OS and phone compatibility.

Unfortunately, Apple "does not support" going back from the updates they automatically send to your phone. I think you have to work for Apple and learn some secret handshake to revert to an earlier operating (iOS) system. It is one of the various ways Apple screws its users.

I have fiddled with the hotspot capability, but the battery continues to cut out haphazardly, even though the diagnostics declare the battery to be healthy. The diagnostics seem to be just as flawed as Apple itself.

Do you know a way to revert to an earlier operating system? All my searching and questioning support has told me a "downgrade" is "not supported", so I had to replace my iPhone. Obviously, I went to a non-Apple product.

Paying $500 for a new phone is a little silly in the first place. There are perfectly serviceable phones for $50-$100. They aren't made by Apple, but these days, that is a point on their favor. And I'm not talking about 4-year-old batteries -- some iPhone SEs were bought new only 2 years ago. Their batteries should not be unable to run the newest iOS.

I understand your frustration but the world is evolving, so is technology, software isn’t just an image, it’s technology and every major update requires certain device requirements to support the foundation Of iOS, just like a building, we can’t pay for a cheap foundation and expect it to support and hold a mansion

And that's how you lose so many customers!!!

I understand the evolving tech requires better and improved hardware. But if you want to retain customers, you can simply choose not to include the old hardware for the new iOS. Once the customer wants the upgrade, they can buy the new phone.

Outdating old hardware without informing customers is not an ethical practice.
