The watch just updated to 7.0.2 and is now not displaying incoming calls but it is able to make calls? I reset the watch and it is still not working....

I have an open case with Apple Enterprise support on this issue for the last few weeks. They have pulled diagnostic logs from my phone and watch multiple times. They seem eager and willing to find the issue. In my experience in troubleshooting this I feel it is vehicle specific. I have a 2020 Hyundai Palisade with wired CarPlay that has the problem. My older Nissan with an aftermarket CarPlay receiver has no issues. For me, the issue occurs only when I cut the car off and open the door so the infotainment system then shuts off "before" I pull the lighting cable, about 90% of the way I do it. If I pull the cable from my phone before CarPlay shuts off I NEVER have the issue. I have tested and tested this so many times I've lost count. I think it has something to do with the way the vehicle is sending a disconnect or maybe not sending the disconnect command to the phone so perhaps the phone still think it's connected to CarPlay in some way. Rebooting the phone resets this. This would explain why it doesn't happen to everyone. For the wireless CarPlay users if you turn off WIFI before you shutoff your vehicle do you still have the issue? I think there have been several posts that this was proven true. For you wired folks like me, if you unplug the lightning cable before your CarPlay turns off does your watch ring normally every time? I am sending more diags to Apple once I get home today as requested by Apple Engineers. I am very hopeful we are getting to a resolution with this.

Check to ensure the Watch is not on silent. You did not say if the two devices are paired, or if you tried restarting both devices. I have an iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 14.0.1 and just updated my Watch to watchOS 7.0.2 and am still receiving calls and call notifications on the Watch. Try resetting the iPhone and if necessary, unpair and repair the two devices.

I agree, this is really frustrating. One of the reasons for having an advanced watch like this is to be able to get at least basic phone call notifications. I hadn't tested mine in a while but just did. Called my cell from my work phone and nothing on the watch. When the call ended my watch then said missed call but no vibrate or audible notification at all. Turned on airplane mode on my phone. Called again from work phone, watch rang. Turned off airplane mode, called again, watch nothing. Restarted phone and back to working again. As much as I know now to restart my phone after every CarPlay disconnect, I still forget and still miss important calls. Going to try and call Apple Enterprise support as I am a mobility specialist for my work and see if I get anywhere with them. Not holding my breath but this is beyond ridiculous.

Just so we are clear, here is my expected behavior of Apple Watch;

Watch notifications for calls mirror iPhone before connecting to CarPlay

Connected to CarPlay no call notifications on watch

Disconnected from CarPlay, back to mirror iPhone

Here is what is happening:

Watch notifications for calls mirror iPhone before connecting to CarPlay

Connected to CarPlay no call notifications on watch

Disconnected from CarPlay, no call notifications on watch

If I reboot the phone after disconnecting from CarPlay Watch notifications for calls mirror iPhone

Just tried restarting my phone only and I was able to have a call displayed on the watch. I also have a wireless CarPlay connection in my car. This issue began when I got the Applewatch 6. I was hoping it was a conflict with the iPhone X but have since gotten the iPhone 12 pro Max and same issue. No issues with my old OG Applewatch1 (which can't load the new watch software). Hope they can correct it. Lots of money spent on the newest devices with less function! Thanks for your answer!

I think I have the same issue and it is tied to the use of CarPlay. New versions installed with series 4 nike watch and the tech just sent me a link to report it to their engineers. Seems like this issue has been going on for awhile. If I restart both phone and watch it seems to start syncing up for calls after a few minutes but this is stupid and annoying for such expensive electronics. My iphone is a 12 pro max and the series 4 has cellular data.

Well go figure. I submitted my issue through the Apple Feedback page and I tested disconnecting Carplay last night and when I drove to work this morning. I have called multiple times from my wife's phone and from my work phone and my watch rings just fine. I did pull the lighting cable from my phone before I shutoff the vehicle this morning but not last night and it still worked. The only change I made yesterday was the previous suggestion of iPhone > Watch app > Phone > changed Mirror my iPhone to Custom and check Allow Notifications. I will keep testing but so far today it is working.
