AirPods Pro picking up background noise on call

Well as long as they replace it with a product that actually works I’ll be happy. That’s if they cannot fix it with SW. thanks for the response and keep us posted on your outcome at the apple store.

YESSSSS!!! For years, between the 1st GEN and now the latest air pods I have the same problem. Nobody wants to talk to me when I have the air pods in my ears because they pic up EVERY NOISE. This is frustrating I agree, especially given the price of these things.

Now, I did some more research and apparently if you download the latest IOS update (15.4) on your phone, this will update your air pods also to version 4C165. The 4C165 update is supposed to resolve the microphone background noise issue. WE SHALL SEE! I plan to test this out this evening. I hope this helps.

I thought this was only me, I tried to solve it and have not been able to. It very annoying not to be able to do anything while I am using the airpods, since the other person goes crazy with the very loud sounds, if I get a solution I will share it~

It's very irritating that we've spent so much money on a high quality wireless headphone and then the people we want to talk to on the phone won't until we stop doing ALL activity other than talk to them. I've had my pros for several years now. So I've had many IOS updates, the issue has never gone away with these updates. I've reset them countless times and the issue has never gone away. The only thing that makes the issue go away is not using my Airpods for calls. I have to use my cheap Skull Candy wired headphones.

Well guys I got it FIXED. After someone else complained about the noise and had to literally sit down without the tv, radio on and sat quietly I decided to call apple support. They setup a Genius Bar aptmnt. Long story short they tested the AirPods and found a frequency issue on the right side air plug. This is something software won’t fix. So the support staff that was helping me replaced the AirPods with brand new ones, just the earbuds not the charging case. I made the first call to someone who has complained about all the noise and they didn’t hear nothing but me loud and clear. Mind you I was still in the mall with the music playing at a decent level where I would have annoyed them had this not been fixed. So if your having this issue, goto the apple store and have them test it out. Most likely your having the same issue as I did. No more :) I hope this helps a lot of you.

Just found this thread, thought I was the only one with this issue.

And nope, im on the 4C165 update and the issue is still present.

Switched the audio to right only and tested and the issue seems to be fixed for now, guess some fault with my left earphone's mic.

Long holding the right air pod pro and enabling noise control solved this issue for me. For some reason when sounds are allowed to pass through my air pods it amplifies it to the person on the other end of the call. Maybe it will work for some of you.

It's appalling how poorly AirPods function for phone calls. I love them for listening to things, but they're crap for calls for the reasons all the rest of your are saying. Would love there to be a solution. I can't stand when my son calls me using them as he walks to work in NYC and I hate to inflict that noise on others. VERY FRUSTRATING.

it’s actually does not address the issue which is ambient noise enhancement. They are only good for listening to things. They are completely useless for using in a conversation unless there is zero ambient noise.

Facing the same issue and putting all hopes into the new ones now. Are there already some indications this issue has improved?

Is there maybe even an official statement from Apple on the issue? The AirPods Pro 1st Gen are great, but using them for phone calls in an environment other than a quiet office they are bad.

I have had the AirPods Pro 1st generation and I faced this issue. I was able to return them after a week. Now I am testing the AirPods Pro 2nd generation (£280) and I am facing the exact same issue. I literally open them now and test the straight away with no luck!

At this point I definitely lost my hopes in this product. My wife has the AirPods 2nd generation (£99) and they are working extremely well and I can hear her clear.

I guess at this point I will return mine and get the old ones. So disappointed!!

Same same. Glad I'm not alone, disappointed in AAPL that there isn't a solution. My dad won't take calls from me if I'm using my AirPods bc the background noise is so distracting!

I’m also experiencing this issue and haven’t found a solution to the problem... Have you heard anything new that might solve it?

I have also same issue with my AirPod Pro and AirPod second Gen... Apple should do something to issue this issue... it’s really annoying
