AirPods Pro picking up background noise on call

I have the same issue. External noises seem to amplify more than your own voice. The voice of person on the other end seems to be fine to your ears. But the same complaint i keep getting, that they r able to hear everything around me except for my own voice. Did apple resolve yhe issue in 2021?

Hi Brendon, any update? I have several complaints as well from folks on the other end of the conversation. I expect higher quality from Apple, especially given the price. I bought these based on recommendations from folks that likely had older Gen versions, Apple need to fix these asap or perform a recall (they are unusable)!

Just upgraded to the Airpod Pros. They sound good for basic use but like everyone else, phone calls are a major problem. For $250 Apple should suggest that you isolate in a closet or professional studio in order to make a phone call. Everyone I talk to when I am out in the real world complains about the increased noise and lack of my voice.

I have tried all the tests to see f i could solve the problem. So far nothing has worked. I have one more test to do and that is return these things and get my money back from Apple. The gimmick isn't worth the entry fee. Save yourself the money and don't buy Airpod Pros. There is nothing professional here.

Anything yet on this?? Just bought the pros and no one will talk with me on phone as soon much background noise. iOS 15 fixed issue for FaceTime beautifully but not when on call. Help! If not, I’ll return within my 90 day allowed period.

Same, just spent $320 Aus on air pod pros, expecting sound quality better than my trusty Airpod gen 2.

i used them with pride only to be told by work people that the back ground noise is unbearable.

when taking a call in the car, it’s amplified the car driving sound (was not a problem with air pod) note: I’m using iPhone 11, iOS 15

I feel ripped off, I suspect Apple can not fix the issue because they would have done it by now.

what is confusing is the reviews of the product is very positive and no one has called out the issue.

i feel disappointed with Apple and will be asking for refund

Headphone settings? I don't see it - I updated to iOS 15 and still only have the noise cancellation or spatial audio settings. I can't find anything that shows Voice Isolation.... I thought there was finally any answer! Can you please post screen shots?

Add me to the list of annoyed AirPods Pro customers. Came here to see if there was a working solution yet.

Nearly everyone I speak to on the phone while using my Pros complain about amplified noises. They seem quiet to me, but to the receiver on the other end of the line, they say it's ear-scratchingly loud.

Apple make this right already please!

Unfortunately same here. I'm using my Pros for work and remote working doesn't seem like an option with this hardware. Everytime I'm on call either I sound muffled or my background noise is bursting peoples eardrums. Really-really annoying for pricey HW. Useless!

i have the same issue , even when i open a door my friend at the other end hear so loud and so irritating . Even if i turn on noise cancellation is only on my side , but the other side can hear the little sound like i opening a box , it seems a magnifier on their whenever i use airpod

Yeah same thing here. A friend had to literally record our convo and sent it to me. I can hear the people in the TV talking loud and clear and my voice gets cut out. How is my voice getting omitted but the television or PC, or radio playing getting priority when my freakin moth is literally inches away from the MIC. This has to be a major issue for sometime and apple hasn't addressed it. They need to ASAP !!

Well as long as they replace it with a product that actually works I’ll be happy. That’s if they cannot fix it with SW. thanks for the response and keep us posted on your outcome at the apple store.

I thought this was only me, I tried to solve it and have not been able to. It very annoying not to be able to do anything while I am using the airpods, since the other person goes crazy with the very loud sounds, if I get a solution I will share it~

It's appalling how poorly AirPods function for phone calls. I love them for listening to things, but they're crap for calls for the reasons all the rest of your are saying. Would love there to be a solution. I can't stand when my son calls me using them as he walks to work in NYC and I hate to inflict that noise on others. VERY FRUSTRATING.

Obviously this response does not fix the problem.

it’s actually does not address the issue which is ambient noise enhancement. They are only good for listening to things. They are completely useless for using in a conversation unless there is zero ambient noise.

Facing the same issue and putting all hopes into the new ones now. Are there already some indications this issue has improved?

Is there maybe even an official statement from Apple on the issue? The AirPods Pro 1st Gen are great, but using them for phone calls in an environment other than a quiet office they are bad.
