Can't find iphone backups on macbook pro

Can anyone advise me on how to find my iphone backups on my macbook pro? They are on the hard drive, not on icloud, and the only information I could find online was to search ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/... I searched this and nothing showed up in finder. I know that my backup files exist because when I look at what is taking up my storage space, it is showing iOS files. I want to be able to move my backups to an external hard drive so I need to be able to locate them in finder.
