Mail on my iPhone

I have a MacBook Air and and iPhone 11. When I delete an email in Mac Mail I want it to also delete the email on my phone whether I've read it or not and visa versa. How do I sync the two?

Make sure the mail account is set up as IMAP or Exchange on both devices.

IMAP and Exchange accounts synchronize all clients and the server. POP3 does not.
