iPhone 12 not getting notifications

I set up my new device, and my notification settings are turned on and the same as my previous phone, but I am not getting notifications on the new device. My old device, connected to Wi-Fi, is getting notifications. Again the settings I checked and they are all the same on both devices.

Can someone please help me to get my notifications?

Thank you

Ok, update! So as I've opened each app, I've started to get notifications for those apps. That seems to be the trick for me. I have my old phone next to the new phone. When I get a notification on my old phone and not the new phone, I open the app on the new phone. Usually it asks me to sign in and that's what's holding up the notifications (maybe).

So guys.. I fed up w this diy troubleshooting. I have called apple support for so many times and I insist that they booked me a service appointment at nearest service centre.

I went there and they tried again every troubleshoots I have tried, no avail. Last resort is to format the phone and it fixed. They even wanna charge me 50bucks for a format of a brand new phone’s. Well, I 99% believe most of you have the same notif issue as I was.

So, go here guys. Settings > General >Reset > Erase all content & settings. (Not network, not all settings but also with the contents) Set up as new phone. Note that you will lost all data. Yes, you have the options to restore but the notification culprit is the data from your previous/old phone.

The catch is to let go of your old data.

So, assuming u okay with these, right after setting up, don’t opt for the restore/any data retrieving from backup. Install IG and go ahead. Worked for me. Hopefully’ll work for u guys too. I did have a problem though after the fix. My Find My wasn’t locating my friends. “Locations not found”. Anyway, goodluck

SOLUTION TL;DR: Open and close every bloody app on new iPhone 12 and notifications will start.

SOLUTION: Hello All. I can't be sure that there aren't DIFFERENT problems that we are experiencing, but I had this exact problem and I fixed it. FYI calls to Apple and TMobile did NOT provide a solution.

WHAT WORKED: Having done a backup on my IPhone 6s, I then turned on my iPhone 12 (let's call it Classic) and used the blue cloud thingy to get one to talk to the other and downloaded my 6s backup to my new 12 phone. I got phone calling and text messaging to work and, interestingly, all my voicemails DID come over and did NOT delete. All my apps came over as well BUT no notifications showed up.

To get notifications from Apps after confirming that YES notifications were turned ON for all apps, I had to OPEN AND CLOSE EACH APP INDIVIDUALLY and then slide up HARD from the very bottom of the screen to the TOP which will give you access to all the still open apps, and slide each screen up to make sure each app is actually CLOSED. (As you know just tapping the screen to "close" the app off the screen does NOT CLOSE THE APP. ) A few apps that required log-ins did require me to log in to the app to make sure it was me and then notifications ensued. In many cases the passwords had already been saved in my old phone and the new one gave me access to my saved passwords, often after checking my FACE ID.

I went to bed and woke up to a slew of notifications.

NOTE: at this point I had NOT signed out of the Apple ID or deleted anything on my old phone, so what I did was to put them side by side and see what notifications were on my OLD phone and NOT on the new. This let me then go in to those apps and reopen and close or sign in and hopefully those will now show me notifications from now on.

This absolutely worked for me is all I can say.

I had to restore my device and set it up as a new phone without transferring data back to it for it to work. If you have to do this, turn on all iCloud features before doing so (to migrate as much data as possible) and wait for everything to upload to iCloud. Go to Settings > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings and sign back in to iCloud during the setup. You will have some data loss and have to download apps manually but this is the only way I found it to work. Hope this helps.

Hi--I am not an Apple expert. Try opening each app on your new phone and logging in. Then reset Bluetooth connection a couple of times. Then restart your Iphone once or twice.

Here's why that fixes some notification problems: your new Iphone is NOT automatically connecting to the apps with your log-in info (some of them accept face recognition so you have to go thru the steps on each app). You can see the apps and see the settings, but you can't tell they are NOT logged in on your new phone. Turning Bluetooth on & off and restart just clears out old settings.

It worked for me--I had same thing as you a few days ago--now it all works fine. Maybe Apple hasn't done a very good job telling new owners what steps they have to take with a new phone. Like many, I upgraded from Iphone 6--an ancient device that I knew very well. I had to figure the rest out myself. Hope this helps you.

I had similar issue on iOS 14.3 - new iPhone 12 Mini not getting notifications; old iPhone 7 getting notifications. I got them working again (hopefully this is fixed long-term) by using Google account to sign out of my old phone. So I opened Gmail -> hamburger menu -> Settings -> click on email address -> Manage google account -> Security -> Your devices -> iPhone 7 -> Sign Out.

Not sure if this will be relevant to those missing out on non-logged in apps like CNN, but thought i'd share just in case.

I have a new iPhone 12 and new I-watch 6 and was having the same problem. I transferee all my iPhone 6 information with iTunes backup and restore. Then on both iPhone 12 and on I-watch 6 I was no longer getting “notifications” from email on either device. I have used the same Hotmail address for 20 years. In Setting>Mail>Accounts>Hotmail, I deleted the Hotmail address then in “Add Account” added” a new account from the choices listed on the iPhone. I chose Outlook, then reentered my old Hotmail address. Problem was solved.

I figured it out!! If you go to Settings, Notifications, then the specific app, you should have: locked phone, notifications and banners checked. But then, look under the list of apps under Notifications, it only shows “Banners”…it doesn’t show Sounds and Badges. To fix this, you have to: Delete the App, Download the App again, open the new App, it’ll ask if you want to Enable Notifications?, say Yes. That’ll fix it! Now if you go look at Notifications under Settings, you’ll see it’ll show all: Banners, Sounds, Badges.

Thanks for this. I’ve just finished a chat enquiring about my case from 2 weeks ago, and was told the same thing. It’s not a hardware fault, it’s something in the restore causing the problems. I’ve also been advised to completely wipe the phone and set it up manually from new. At least if it worked for you, there hope that spending the time doing all this will cure all of the issues. I’ve got the Lidar issue too, where I can’t measure a persons height. I’m fed up with having to keep checking the phone for mail etc so I’m going to reset the phone a little later on. Keeping my fingers crossed!

You do NOT have to log in to every application. A lot of them that have logins yes, you do have to log in to get the notifications. Not all of them and for many you may have saved the password and log in with Apple's password helper and it will have downloaded when you downloaded the backup. With a LOT of apps there isn't a log in, but you DO seem to have to OPEN AND CLOSE THE APP all the way to get notifications. By which I mean make sure you force close or swipe close or whatever the app. DO NOT open it and just go to the Home screen leaving it open in the background.

I was having the same issue regarding notification settings. I was used to getting the banner when text messages or other apps would come through. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max. You have to go into settings- then notifications- and you must click on each app that you want to receive notifications for... ie. Instagram , then click on banner - and then choose permanently. That fixed my issue with text messages. Click on sms app, then choose banner and permanently.

I hope this helps.
