iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

Haven’t seen much on this yet and was curious if anyone out there with either an iPhone 12 or 12 Pro is experiencing any overheating issues. I had major overheating problems while setting up the iPhone which isn’t too out of the norm. However the overheating issues have seemed to persist since getting the phone set up. The backup is fully restored so there shouldn’t be much background activity occurring. I’m also experiencing abysmal battery life as well, along side the drastic overheating. I do tend to favor 5G On over 5G Auto as I live in an area with a pretty expansive sub6 5G network. But either way the phone is still prone to overheat under minimal load. I also have been experiencing an occasional flicker on the screen which is something I haven’t seen on any apple oled panels before. Like I said I haven’t seen many forums or posts anywhere about this issue so thought I would reach out to the community and see if anyone is experiencing anything similar!

But only using one app for less than 15 minutes (e.g. reading the news) and the device overheating to the point that it’s too hot to touch is not normal. I have been told borh by the reaeller and Apple Support that this device needs to be repaired. I suggest everyone who experience inreasonable overheating woth their iPhone 12 Pro return it to be repaired or replaced. This is surely a manufacturing error, something’s wrong with a batch of devices.

I’m very sad I just got my phone on January 7th I was so excited to jump from iPhone 8 to the 12 pro. I’ve always had and iPhone and never had a problem my FaceTime flickers and the phone gets hot while charging. The battery runs fast it’s not what I expected I’m currently in the process of fixing the cámara issue my came without the option to record I’m not sure 🤔 if it’s a software issue or the phone simply is not working well.

Ungortunately, the second attempt att fixing the overheating problem didn’t work either. This to see if restoring the device to factory settings and setting it up as a new device would resolve the issue. I did all that, as instructed. This device is now running on software version 14.4, but sadly nothing has improved with regard to the overheating and related problems.

I have now been test running this device since the new setup, as instructed by Apple Support. After about 15-20 minutes of just reading a few posts on Facebook, opening two websites on Safari and asking Siri to translate a few sentences, it is now overheating again, getting too hot to hold and starting to do the irritating dimming of the screen. No temperature warning this time either, even though it started to do these “safety” actions in response to the overheating.

Even as I write this message, the device just keeps getting hotter and hotter and I need to put this device down very soon as the heat is uncomfortable snd skready bordering on painful (if I continue holding it and uding it, it will shortly become unbearable to touch).

I will need to book a third Apple Support Call and then have this device returned, as this seems to be a hardware problem -because none of the software fixes addressed the problem(s).

How disappointing. I have been trying to use this device for less than four weeks and the problems have been present from the start. Instead og bring able to enjoy my new Apple purchase, it has been nearly four weeks of spending time trying to fix issues and exoeriencing one disappointment after the other when the problem just persists.

There are consumer protection laws in place in the country where I purchased device, and if this device doesn’t get replaced with one that works properly, I have the right to rescind the purchase of this faulty device and get a refund.

My 12 pro max started overheating today. This was the first time I noticed/had it happen. I was only videoing and I only took three 3min videos. I noticed during the second video that there was a “warning” that I couldn’t use the flash until the phone cooled down. After the third video I got the message about the phone overheating. I was taking videos, why is it overheating?!

Point noted.

Even me too noticed the same.

Seems like trying to hide something..

a clever business strategy behind this.

Most of the 12 series iPhones are having overheating issue and I am really fed up with this on my phone..

But no leaks on YouTube- google search etc.. what’s happening around..

otherwise a small issue is being circulated as viral in web!!

in this case the buyers are getting cheated, being trusting the apple!!

I never expect apple to release such an incomplete product having severe manufacturing defect!!!

Definitely a problem. One hr after purchase of 12 Pro and set-up, driving with passenger on FaceTime with phone in holder, picked up phone and it was almost too hot to hold. Unfortunately rested the edge BRIEFLY, less than a minute, on leather armrest, and burned a hole in it. Range Rover. Brand new car. Arrrgh!

This has to be a fire hazard
