iPhone 12 Pro Lock Sound Issue

Issue is not gone in 14.3... It's very strange but if you reboot the phone, the issue seems to go away. If you attach a magsafe device, the issue is back. Rebooting the phone fixes the issue... Until you attach a magsafe device again.

I'm using the magsafe case.

It appears to be fixed in iOS 14.4 that will be released soon (now in release candidate stage)

iOS 14.4 has fixed the issue for me. I have not had the problem since upgrading to it once it became available.

IOS 14.4 public beta 2 seems to have solved the problem for me (12 Mini). Screen lock sounds stay normal after connection with magsafe leather cover or using magsade charger.

I’ve had this problem myself.

Go into:

Settings

Sounds & Haptic

Then turn off (Change with Buttons)

This seems to work for me.

System synths (sound) issue appears across entire iPhone 12 lineup. This includes variable/inconsistent volume levels of all system sounds including keyboard, lock, message sent/receive and other system’s synths. I am working with Apples senior support advisor on this issue.

The Lock synth distortion is triggered by MagSafe synth (when iPhone is connected to the MagSafe charger). iPhone must be restarted to restore proper Lock synth/sound.

Apple is aware of this issue and it is not fixed in iOS 14.3.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 12 Pro on version 14.3. It goes away when I reboot the phone but happens every time putting on my MagSafe phone cover.

It is the magsafe attaching to the iphone thst makes the lock sound glitch. 100% to do with magsafe and software. For me happened both times i attached my magsafe case and the issue went away somehow from alone.

On iOS 14.3 on my iPhone Pro 12 Max and it still happens to me. Seems to be triggered after certain apps that produce sound are used. One app being Relax Melodies. This happened on my previous phone some, too: iPhone 7 Plus. Definitely a low priority software bug.

You know, you can disable the lock sound in the meantime and still use the phone normally... why are you whining

i‘m not sure if that‘s really a software issue. It sounds more like a hardware problem to me. Maybe it has to do with the case covering up the speakers or something like that. I have the same problem too sometimes. I recently switched from an iPhone XS to an iPhone 12 Pro and the problem still occurs. So it’s definitely not a recent iOS problem because i got the problem on early iOS versions too.

Unfortunately, some of us are experiencing the same issue in messages notifications and other notifications as well. Although it is annoying to some, it is very difficult to have to keep looking at your phone to see if you have any text messages, emails or other notifications. Since I don’t use MagSafe save and never have it is obviously their software issue. They need to fix this since it renders messages especially, almost useless unless you are staring at the phone constantly.
