iPhone 12 pro won’t wirelessly charge

Picked up new phone. It will not charge on my Qi wireless charger. My family members’ iPhone X and 11 charge fine. Mine initially shows the green battery, then it disconnects from charging and the charger flashes a blue LED, signifying it is no longer connected. This despite using different charger blocks.

Have any of you tried a Forced Restart?

  1. Press and quickly release volume up button
  2. Then press and quickly release volume down button
  3. Then press and KEEP HOLDING side power button (keep holding past the swipe to shut down) until you see the Apple Logo, then let go.

Once your phone restarts and you sign back in, see if you can charge your phone on your Qi charger.

Downloaded 14.2 yesterday, and my iPhone 12 Pro started wirelessly charging again, when it restarted, but now it has stopped accepting the Qi charge, again. I now suspect that it was the forced restart that got the function restored, albeit temporarily, as was the case before the update was released and installed.

UPDATE: Just realized that the QC3 brick had been removed from the circuit, now that it's reinstalled, everything seems to be working, once more.

I was having same issue where my iPhone12 would struggle to charge wirelessly unless i reboot it.

Contacted Apple support - they said it may be because of the magnet inside iPhone12 is causing our wireless charger not able to detect an iPhone resting on its' pad to enable charging status but they suggest to update to 14.2 to see if it resolve the charging issue.

I updated to 14.2 after getting off with support and I haven't had an wireless charging issue since then..

Still too early to tell but so far it been good for me after the update ...

I just got the iPhone 12 Pro Max yesterday and noticed the exact same thing with all 3 of our wireless chargers (different brands and models). One of the Qi stand models will work only if I put the phone on its long edge (landscape), but not in the standard portrait orientation. The other two chargers won't work at all. All 3 chargers work fine with my previous iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I spent 30 minutes with Apple tech support and they not only could not confirm there was an issue, but said to bring the phone into an Apple Store for them to look at it! So they obviously did a TERRIBLE QA on these Pro models and don't care that users won't be able to use most of their wireless chargers at home, office, or in the car, as well as leverage any that are in cafes and public places. THIS IS A HUGE BLUNDER!

Anyway, couldn't get tech support to acknowledge the problem so obviously they wouldn't offer any advice or information regarding a possible software fix in a future update (assuming it can be done). If this is a problem with the hardware and its circuitry positioning, then they will have a lot of unhappy customers.

The 12 Pro Max arrived yesterday with 14.1 so I updated it to 14.2, also also tried the full reboot like others have suggested, but nothing has helped.

Unfortunately I have done both methods of restarting the phone several times but no change in success. So now I wonder if there is just a bad batch of phones that came off the assembly line where they simply don't work?

I posted a report on the Apple iPhone bug reporter page and will probably take it into an Apple Store with 3 of the chargers next week and see what they say. I would be curious if they could exchange the phone to see if a different works.

Just look at the charging brick. If the brick is QC3.0 it will say so right on it. I remember seeing others post that they couldn't charge their new iPhone 12 with a Belkin Qi Charger. They tried another charger and it worked fine. It could be something with the Belkin, which honestly shouldn't be since Belkin owes its success to selling accessories for Apple products. But see if you can try a different Qi charger and it your phone charges, it's not the phone, it's the charger.
