iPhone 12 Pro Keyboard sounds, notifications and lock sounds volume low

Anyone else having issues with volume of notifications, keyboard sounds and even the lock sound being barely audible? The only thing I haven't done is reset the phone. I set it up from an iCloud backup and I didn't have this issue on my XS. If I restart the phone, it goes to normal volume for a moment then back to being quiet again. Sometimes I am not getting notification sounds at all.

Happps, and everyone else please try this fix. I just purchased the iPhone 12 Mini and was having this exact issue that Happps is having and going into Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > and DISABLING "Phone Noise Cancellation" This fixed my issue with the sound. Hopefully this works for everyone else. This is definitely a bug with noise cancellation.

I have had my new iPhone 12 pro max for a week. The volume is a huge issue. I miss calls with my phone next to me because it’s so quiet. The volume comes in and out while texting. It starts out either loud or soft then gets quiet or louder about 20 keystones in. The larger issue is not getting text alert sounds. I’m also not getting alerts while I’m on a call. I have reset everything and it still doesn’t fix the problem. Otherwise I love the phone but this problem is a deal breaker if not fixed. I bought the phone from Costco so I have 90 days to return it instead of 14. I hope Apple will address this issue and correct it. If it’s something they can’t fix they will be getting their phone back. My last phone had a similar issue. This phone is actually worse with the volume issue.

On it. Thank you for mentioning the sonar sound again. I specified to my one friend to use that sound selection when testing in sound settings with volume on highest setting. I am waiting to hear back from her.

I was thinking same thing, that some people just do not notice. That seems insane to me because its the 2nd thing I noticed the day this phone arrived. The first thing was ringer volume decreasing when I picked up the phone but thankfully I googled and found the setting to fix that. No such fix for keyboard clicks and more importantly text notification volume though. Absolutely ridiculous for $750.00 phone.

I feel that Jobs would be rolling over in his grave. “Unacceptable!”

Apologies for the rambling. Hopefully my friend will get back to me soon with her test results.

I think it’s a software problem.

It started with iOS 14. I’ve tested at least 20 iPhones (SE, 8, 10 and all the 12’s) in stores, at Apple’s and friends by doing this test:

Just try this test:

in Sounds & Haptics set the ringer and alerts volume all the way up.

Then set ringtone sound “Sonar” (in classics)

Then set the same “Sonar” sound to your text tone and you will hear the volume difference.

I am going to sell my iPhone 12 too and switch to Android because I miss a lot of notifications.

Not a single reviewer noticed this issue.

People don’t care or notice this problem because they are wearing Apple Watch.
