USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter is not charging iPad Pro

I bought the Adapter so I could charge while connected to Ethernet (via a USB ethernet dongle attached to the Adapter's USB port). The Ethernet works, but the Adapter doesn't charge the iPad Pro. Yes, I plugged USB-C power into the Adapter's female USB-C port.

I don't know if there's a requirement to use a specific USB-C power adapter with this to make it charge through the Adapter to the iPad. I've tried the USB-C power adapter that came with the iPad Pro, as well as a 2.0A Anker adapter. Neither charges the iPad through the Adapter; either one will charge the iPad if connected directly the iPad's USB-C port.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Nathan

Hello NHS_PDX,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

Based on what you mentioned, you want to charge your iPad while connected to Ethernet. To do this, you purchased an adapter and connected it to an existing adapter. Your adapters may be the issue here. You may find an issue like this if your adapters are not configured to route power this way. If you use the adapters individually in any configuration you can test, check if you get different results. You may need to contact the manufacture for capabilities.

Additionally, you will need the correct amount of watts in most cases. Check out this document for accepted charging adapters: About Apple USB power adapters.

Best wishes!
