Usb-c Headphone is not working in iPad Pro 2018 after iPadOS 14 update

I have an AKG USB-C headphone from a Samsung Note 10 Plus device. It was working well ‘before’ the latest update on iPadOS 14. Now, whenever I connect it into my iPad Pro(2018), it does not work.

Before the update, whenever you connect it there was a 2-3 second delay before you can hear sound through the headphone... now, it does not work at all. I am sure the headphone is working coz when it is connected into the Samsung device, you can hear a sound output.

I just bought a 5th gen Pro and had same issue with my Samsung AKG USB_C headphones. Connected them to my Note 10+ and it auto updated the firmware on the headphones. Connected them again to my iPad and after about 1 minute it recognized them and now I am getting sound out of them and all the controls are working properly. Tried again and it took as long for iPad to recognize them. Hope this helps. Playing music through Amazon Music.

There is definitely no support for USB-C audio in iPadOS 14. I ran into the same issue with my Mac the other day, but there I could change the output to the headphones. I'm afraid iPadOS is too light of an operating system to let us do that. Considering that android has support for this, this is quite the bummer. What's the point of deleting the headphone jack if USB-C audio is not supported ?

Hi,

came across this discussion as I have the same issue. AKG earphones USB-C from my Samsung Note 20 Ultra(absolutely new, working perfectly ) and my new iPad Pro 2020 refuses to “see” them. Tried the way someone advised here - to insert usb-c jack very slowly, and that works (thank you the person who suggested).. but works 2 times out of 10.

I’m Very disappointed with the aproach Apple has towards this issue turning blind eye on it. It is a quite expensive device to have issues like this.. make me feel this is done on purpose to force us to get their products, earphones, buds, dongles.

p.s. will check tomorrow Bluetooth connection with my galaxy buds live.. will be a surprise if it will work..

Hi I to have this issue, AKG type c port that came

with S20, they work on my pixel / samsung devices but not on the apple

ipad air 4, the ipad detects the volume control input, can activate

voice control but the sound continues to output via the ipad speakers.

So annoying, as I have a perfect set that I would like to use with it

rather than to retire it and have to headset for the ipad alone.

I

am on b ios 14.5 or the latest since this post, i have also tried it

on another ipad air 4 current ios 14.X and same on that.

Apple must be being choosey as the AKG are from Samsung.......as the pixel usb c headphones work perfectly.

Both I believe are external /built in DAC, pixel type c and akg type c.

Not sure why this post is marked as solved. Can we get this as unsolved and how can we get this escalated?

An official response from apple would be nice.
