iPhone 12 Pro - Call Failed - Verizon

I've had my new 12 Pro for 1 day and cannot make or receive calls. Receive "call failed" message. Can receive and make texts as well as email. Verizon says it is related to 5G outage but it doesn't make sense since LTE and WiFi calling don't work. Anyone having similar issues?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

I have this same issue, I don't receive messages and I get the call failed message. This issue comes back over and over on the iPhone 12 after completing all the steps given in the link above.

We need a real solution, not getting important texts and being able to make important work calls is a big issue. I don't want to turn airplane mode on and off every week along with the other steps that are only temporary.

I replied today to a Twitter review from CNET touting the 12 as the next best coming since the X. I cautioned users of Verizon to stay away. VZW responded to me immediately and asked if I could DM them with the issues I was having. I promptly did - and advised them of this thread I started (to let them know I was not alone) - and I have been ghosted.

As an Update: I am on the second 12 Pro device (replacement). Calls going in & out but voicemail was sacrificed. Called VZW today & they told me it was a known issue across all platforms. When she went to test my unit, all calls went straight t VM - nothing rang. She then spent another 30 minutes figuring WTF happened??!!

All fixed now but just waiting for next shoe to drop👠

My wife and I both got our 12 pros on the same day. We moved into our new house and she started dropping calls. I hadn’t dropped any but She makes more calls than I do. I thought it might be that she didn’t have WiFi calling turned on but she did. Then, I started dropping calls. I mentioned that maybe it was the WiFi calling that should be turned off. She was on the phone with her sister last night and dropped the call 9 times. She then toggled WiFi calling off and didn’t drop the call again.

the weird thing is that we both used WiFi calling before moving into our new house without issue. She relies on WiFi calling since she works in a building with spotty cell service. No issues.

I just tried powering phone off, taking sim card out, pop it back in, power on. Service in my apartment went from 1/2 bars with frequent calls dropping to 4/5 bars and knock on wood (no calls dropped yet). Before, I also noticed phone would sometimes switch back and forth from lte to 5g in a loop. After the sim reset, it's been steady lte or 5g depending on where i am in my apartment.

This might be a placebo, but I read somewhere that resetting the sim in a power off/on cycle is the equivalent of old days *228 which reset phones nearest list of towers.

I’m having the same problem. If you go to settings and put it into airplane mode for five seconds then turn it off you’ll get calls and texts for a while but then it goes right back to not receiving messages or calls. I don’t see how that has anything to do with 5G. This sucks. I just paid over $800 for a new phone and it’s worse than my 6s.

It looks like the recent software update by apple on my iphone 12 pro disabled call forwarding hence my phone started sending in coming calls to voicemail or not allowing to receive calls

when I contacted my service provider to remove call forwarding from my plan . The phone started behaving normal so far. I still have to watch what other software in my iPhone have been effected. I have noticed that on MacBook pro

the update change settings on apple mail.

Hope apple engineer test that upgrade do not cause unnecessary change in settings. Apple is a

excellent product maker. But lately things at apple support area are not going well

I too consistently drop calls with this new 12. I am in Verizon as well. I think this is a problem with 5g switching to LTE when 5g is not strong enough. I. In the Reno, Nevada area. But what do I know. I’ll tell you what I know. The phone I spent a large amount of money on is not working as it should. Apple, please reach out to Verizon and sort this out soon.

No issues with my 2 iPhone 12 Pro Max devices on Verizon (not sure if this is only happening to those using the iPhone 12 Pro). I remember having similar issues with my 11 Pro Max last year and it took numerous calls with Verizon before a tech figured out it was a provision issue. Not saying that’s any of y’all issue. I just know that Verizon has often said an issue wasn’t on their end when it was.

I think it time to contact apple technology team for help and resolve the issue. It is after lot of iphone 12 pro owners reported the problem of with the phone calls and sometimes caused by careless attitude to upgrading the software, I have noticed causing irritating issues. So much so time to time I am not inclined to upgrade. Good news is after some time apple engineerfigure out how to fix the problem their upgrade caused it.

I am loyal customer of apple for the last 15 years but.....?

I have the same issue and its infuriating. This phone cost over $1,000 and it cannot make 1-800 calls or even call Verizon to 611. I have to use another phone or Google Voice to call customer service lines.

At the beginning I had the issue others were describing and the Verizon Store said it was the SIM card that was failing. I can now call regular numbers, but 1-800 and 611 are a no go.

There is something wrong with these phones or with 5G networks in general. Is Apple going to provide any guidance on a fix because it's unacceptable to sell people $1,000 phones that cant make or receive calls.
