iPhone 12 w/ iOS 14.1 poor hearing aid connectivity

Ever since upgrading from my iPhone 11 Max to my iPhone 12 Max, my ReSound LiNX Quattro hearing aids are having connection and quality issues. I'm experiencing a lot of static and in general a touchy connection where one or both ears will cut sound. Often times just turning my head sometimes cuts out sound from one ear. It seems the iPhone needs to be VERY close to work as well, the distance (like laying on my desk) causes increased static and stability issues. Anyone else having a similar issue?

Just got an iPhone 12 and am also having hearing aid issues. Connection is not an issue but the right one has a lot of interference on phone calls, enough that I have to remove it when on the phone. Left is OK. I have Oticon miniRite and did not have an issue with my iPhone 8. Had not upgraded to iOS 14 on the 8 so don't know if it is a phone issue or iOS issue.

I just got my iPhone 12pro 4 days ago. The phone connects to my new Oticon hearing aids but there was immediately static in the left ear whenever I get a notification or close the phone. It’s now bounced to the right ear and is extremely annoying, to the point that I have to turn off my Bluetooth so I can use my phone peacefully. I’m at my audiologist and we called Oticon and they said they and Apple are aware of this and working on it. Guess I’ll have to wait, impatiently!!!

I just got an Iphone12 Having problems with my mini RITE G500 Hearing aids are causing me a problem. The left ear device is creating an extreme amount of Static, very painful. I am also having connection problems at times. If I turn my head at times it cuts out my sound. I am very dissatisfied with the disruption this causes. I hope this problem can be corrected. I'm updating to 14.2 right now ... I had high hopes. I used the Apple Support app to initiate a chat yesterday. They essentially told me I had to call in and ask for a Tier 2 person in order to get connected to an engineer. Kind of ironic that the guy who wears hearing aids and is having trouble hearing with the phone is asked to call in to get proper support. Ugh.

Like everyone else in these posts, I too have just gotten a new iPhone 12 and am having compatibility issues using my ReSound Vida 8 hearing aids. I’m not at all happy with the situation - lots of cutting in and out, switching from L ear to R and back again plus the LH HA with static so bad it sounds like somebody tapping away feverishly on a keyboard inside my ear. Seriously considering tossing this phone back at Apple in exchange for a model that we know works. Thanks for reading.

I went to my audiologist yesterday. He erased all programs in my hearing aides. He said that Oticon stores pairings. He wiped them clean and reinstalled my program. So far so good. I can talk on my phone, listen to music on my phone, and do my Spanish lessons. Duolingo was impossible before the fix. Just keeping my fingers crossed. I spoke directly with an Apple tech the day before. Nothing worked. I am cautiously optimistic.

I had upgraded to ios14 on my 6s without problems. If I turn on “system sounds” on the iPhone 12, I get occasional bursts of very loud static in one of my hearing aids. It can be either one, and is normally triggered when I get a system sound (eg ping to announce arrival of a text). I will get the correct sound in one ear and a burst of very loud static in the other.

This means I have to turn off the playing of system sounds to the hearing aids, which means I often don’t hear them particularly as they are much quieter than the ringtone.

Been having the same issues with white noise in my Specsavers Hearing Aids (Signia). Have been through the complete reset of iOS settings, uninstall of aids/associated app and reinstall. It’s then okay for a couple of days before the white noise starts ups again. Have been on to Apple Support and have left feedback with Apple. Can’t revert to my old iPhone X as I traded it in for this iPhone 12 Pro so am stuck with it until Apple provides a fix. Not at all happy.

Hi Mike19995. Thanks for your suggested fix for your brand of hearing aids. I have Bernafon Zerena 9 hearing aids (purchased from Costco) which worked perfectly with my previous Iphone 10. I upgraded to an Iphone 12 Pro last week and when using the telephone the sound was great. However, I experienced the same static sound issue when using my hearing aids to listen to music on websites (eg. Pandora) or any YOUTUBE videos. I have turned off the "PLAY SYSTEM SOUND" option and the problem appears to be remedied. Stay well and stay safe, Bob

i suggest the following, which seems to cure most of the problem:

Delete the Oticon ON app.

Go to Settings/Accessibility/ Hearing Devices and turn off “Play Ringtones” and “Play System Sounds”

This seems to cure the problem of loud static (fingers crossed!), though there is still the problem of one earpiece or the other momentarily cutting out during calls.
