iPhone 12 w/ iOS 14.1 poor hearing aid connectivity

Ever since upgrading from my iPhone 11 Max to my iPhone 12 Max, my ReSound LiNX Quattro hearing aids are having connection and quality issues. I'm experiencing a lot of static and in general a touchy connection where one or both ears will cut sound. Often times just turning my head sometimes cuts out sound from one ear. It seems the iPhone needs to be VERY close to work as well, the distance (like laying on my desk) causes increased static and stability issues. Anyone else having a similar issue?

Just got an iPhone 12 and am also having hearing aid issues. Connection is not an issue but the right one has a lot of interference on phone calls, enough that I have to remove it when on the phone. Left is OK. I have Oticon miniRite and did not have an issue with my iPhone 8. Had not upgraded to iOS 14 on the 8 so don't know if it is a phone issue or iOS issue.

I upgraded from Xs max to 12 pro max today and I am also having this issue with my resound hearing aids. I have found that while a hearing aids connection is glitching that if I go into accessibility and stop streaming to the hearing aid that is WORKING the glitching hearing aid begins to work normally. I believe the iPhone twelve is having issues streaming to two mfi channels at the same time. I am hoping someone can repeat my findings and perhaps give apple another clue. Like many here. if this isn’t fixed soon I’ll return the 12 and go back to the old xs max.

I’m having the same problem, loud static in one hearing aid but it’s intermittent. It’ll fluctuate from left to right. When “Play System Sounds” is turned on I’ll get static every time a text comes through.

I called Apple several days ago, reported the problem, and they sent a new replacement. Same problem :(

I had a iPhone XR, never had a issue, tried my wife’s iPhone 11, no problem. It’s definitely a problem with the iPhone 12.

I'm curious what Apple will do to correct the problem.

I don't believe this is left channel issue I believe it is a problem with the iphone 12 (whatever flavor) having problems streaming 2 low power blue tooth signals simultaneously, which mfi hearing aids utilize. Try this little experiment when streaming and either the right or left hear aid begins to glitch go into accessibility options and disable streaming to the WORKING hearing aid. I have found out, that will stabilize the glitching hearing aid. Let it stream for awhile to prove that it stays stable then re-enable the disabled hearing aid. Most of the time for me the re-enabled hearing aid comes back up and is stable while the hearing aid that was fixed become unstable again.

lets hope they have a firmware fix for this and its not a limitation of the new hardware design.

let us know how your replacement works. Maybe they'll fix the issue with a different bluetooth chipset which would mean hardware replacement. I hope the issue isn't caused by the new magsafe connection interfering with the low power blue tooth signals. That would be problematic. And again hardware change and replacement IF they chose to address the issue.

The replacement iPhone has the same problem...the magsafe could very well be the issue. I'm on HOLD with APPLE now waiting to get through to their Accessibility tech support.

My only concern is what will happen to the numerous people with iPhones that are experiencing this problem.

I've been using iPhones since the iPhone 4, usually updating both my iPhone and my wife's every two years, not to mention iPads, MacBook Air, and iMac

I'm counting on Apple to FIX this problem ASAP

I have Philips Hearlink 9010 hearing aids purchased in Oct 2020 that have worked flawlessly with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and Hearlink app. Just upgraded to iPhone 12 Pro Max. Experiencing unpredictable interference listening to music or on phone calls with phone in a variety of positions and involving one or both of the hearing aids.. Static most common, also squealing and clicking. Both phones are using IOS 14.2. Unfortunately will likely result in me returning my new phone.

I have a Cochlear implant on right side and a ReSound aid on the left. The ReSound seems to work fine, but not the Cochlear, to the point that I need to remove it when on a call or convert to speaker, which frankly defeats the purpose of streaming. It doesn't seem to impact other streaming devices, like the Cochlear mini microphone or their TV streamer, they work fine, it's only the phone.

Hopefully a software fix soon.

In the meantime - to get around the static problem with my Resound Lynx3D - I'm streaming all sound from the iPhone 12 (calls, podcasts etc) to the right hand hearing aid only - an earlier reply used the same method

This is under the accessibility settings.

funnily enough it doesn't work with the left hand aid 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have the same problem with Wydex Moment hearing aids. Contacted Apple and they referred me to their accessibility department. Was on hold for nearly an hour but no one answered. Assumed it was only a Wydex problem till I found this thread. Old phone broke and I loved my new Mini but it will have to go back. Been a loyal Apple fan since the first iPod came out but now I guess I will have to go with some type of Android phone. Makes me a little sad. End of a long relationship.
