iPhone 12 battery drain overnight

My iphone 12 is just 2 days old and I am facing really bad battery drain overnight. I had almost 90% left for couple of days before I had gone to sleep and woke up with a remaining battery of around 65%. The battery chart has nothing for these hours. And moreover my mail push is set to manual and I had turned off wifi, bluetooth, location and mobile data. Is there something I can do to stop this?

It doesn't take much to understand that if your battery drains from 88 percent to 30 percent while IDLE and not being used in the middle of the night, that there's a problem. Doesn't take a level 10 to understand that. It's a problem that needs fixed. This entire thread is exactly about trying to SOLVE that problem. Some level 10's dismiss any discussion about it and write people off as un-intelligent because they don't agree with your bandaid approach of constantly having to plug the phone in. Is it helpful to write people off who are looking for a real solution? Does that qualify as "helping people for many years?" And I'm about to leave this forum for good, as it seems to have some level 10s that are quite dismissive of any other opinion than theirs in regards to my comments. All I got was grief from this forum, and all because I dared to want to solve a big problem with my phone. Shame on me. I should just be quiet and plug my phone in and do as the level 10s say, because they're the smart ones.

yes, but not really yes :)

before going to sleep, I turned off WiFi in the control center by pushing the blue button...I forgot to do it in the settings so I don’t know when but the mobile turned the WiFi back on automatically during the night :) I also closed all opened apps and deleted one game that my son downloaded few days before and I saw it ate the battery very much ( Hole.io).

But the result was nice: 4% decrease during the night. On the following night the decrease value was the same small and without turning off the WiFi and closing apps.

It means that WiFi connection does not effect on this problem. As the first dramatical 40% decrease happened only once with me so I might not be afraid of having a wrong mobile, but we have to be very careful on what apps we download cause they can even do tricks in the background while we are sleeping. On the other hand if this dramatical decrease of battery happens once and not every night so just check what you have downloaded or changed before it happens. If it happens more or every night so it’s still a question to be solved by the manufacturer...

I just spent about 45 minutes chatting with Apple support between two different advisers and they told me ‘this is not a known iPhone 12 issue with Apple’. At the end they told me what they always tell you to do, delete everything and set up as a new phone. I’m sorry, but it’s unacceptable to be told to do that or that this is happening with my phone which is seven days old. iPhone 12 here by the way.

Hey everyone. I started using my brand new iphone 12 mini 3-4 days ago. The battery lasts good throughout the day (for me at least coming from an old iphone 7) but at night it always drops average 20% (sometimes less usually more). I never have wifi on during the night, i always close the apps running like a control freak, as soon as i got it i even followed a youtube video on how to improve battery by turning off a bunch of stuff. I only charged it with the cable apple gave and a fast charging block. But during the day i dont notice this huge drainage. Two days ago i took it at work and after a 8.5 shift, with 20mins usage of the phone during my break and it only lost 10%. So i dont understand what’s differenr at night. There’s no different in drainage at night whether battery is at 40% or 90%. If somebody figures out something please let me know 😰😰

(right now im typing on my old iphone 7 12%, was 30% before i slept and i fell asleep on tik tok, while my iphone 12 mini only had an alarm clock went from 40% to 20%)

Battery life on the 12 Pro is nowhere near as good as my 11. With my typical usage, I’d never use more than 50% over 24 hours. With the 12 Pro, I’m charging multiple times a day. That’s with the usual LTE only mode (although on WiFi most of the time), same apps etc installed. I was expecting it to be slightly less due the smaller battery, but not twice as bad.

It is definitely a bug in 14.1. I am experiencing the same with two iPhoneSE (1st gen). When I connect them to a debugger I can see the medianalysisd never stops, even on battery, as well as some other junk processes. I have resorted to deleting all photos and videos on one of my phones, and the battery drain on idle on it has been reduced significantly

I’m using dual sim functionality and after testing extensively I found that the problem is with selecting mobile data on your e-sim. If I select mobile data on esim than discharge rate is 20% overnight and if data is from primary sim (physical sim) than maximum 1% drop overnight. I have tested with various combinations like switching off e-sim off and then physical sim off, switching to primary sim data overnight etc, the issue is with e-sim only. Otherwise battery drain is normal as of iPhone 11 series.

idle time overnight: 8 hours

Discharge rate on e-sim: around 20%

Discharge rate on physical sim or physical sim mobile data or switching off esim overnight : max 1%

Hey everyone, iphone 12 mini here. I posted on this thread before about my huge drain overnight, usually more than 20-25% per night.

After playing around with some settings my battery only went down by 5-7% last night.

In the mobile data settings (i do NOT use dual sim as other people have noted) i turned low data mode on, even though i want to try it without this tonight, and then in the Mobile Data settings i scrolled all the way to the bottom and turned off Wifi Assist and iCloud Drive. The last two definitely improved my battery drain for some reason, so give it a try.

On my iPhone 11, I had no need to disable any of these and the battery life would be an easy 2 days. On the iPhone 12 Pro with the same apps and settings, it needs to be charged often twice per day. It's nothing to do with background app activity etc, it's something to do with the phone itself.

It's also not dual-sim related, I've tried both physical sim and migrating that to the eSim, and still have exactly the same thing going on. Really not impressed :(

Hi all,

I am having similar issue. New iPhone 12, about 5 days old. Battery drains about 10 to 12 % during night on a full charge. I have set a bed time schedule between 10:30 pm and 6:00 am and hence no notifications come through, however there is a constant rate of battery drain during this period. What surprises me is that when you look at the battery statistics, there is no app activity during this period, yet battery is draining.

I suspect it could be the bed time schedule but, because my wife also has a iPhone 12 which is about 4 weeks old and bed time is not scheduled on it and I don’t see any battery drain. Remains almost 100% charge overnight.

I have disabled mine today to do some testing and I will report back. Even during the day with notifications, usage the rate of drain is not significant and less than during bed time.
