Iphone 12 / High Sierra / Itunes 12.8.2.3

If you've not already do so try this approach. In Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

Try resetting your trust settings*, then unlock your device before you connect to the computer. Hopefully you will get the trust computer prompt, trust the computer, then see if the other steps will work.

* Settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy

At the end I finally managed it to work. Basically I plugged the Iphone, unlock it, open the finder, clicked on Preferences, clicked on the sidebar menu, unchecked the CD,DVDs, iPod(in somecase is CS,DVDs, iOS devices) waited a few seconds, checked it again and it work. I honestly don't know if it work for this because I have follow your advice but nothing happened, but after this it worked straight away. Thank you.

Do you see a bunch of what look like different language folders? (ar.lproj, ca.lproj, cs.lproj, en.lproj, etc..)

Near the middle of all that should be "MobileDeviceUpdater"

If it's not, did you try a fresh restart and then looked again? I had to restart in order to see it but it worked.

Reboot everything and try again? Several people have commented that MobileDeviceUpdater can take an age to do anything useful.

How annoying! Have you tried reinstalling iTunes 12.2.8.3 while the new device is connected and unlocked? That has worked sometimes when running MobileDeviceUpdater hasn't.

Not that I'm aware of, it normally does the trick. Since it hasn't for you I'd recommend reinstalling iTunes 12.8.2.3 and see if that gets you any further forward.

Did you try TT2's "MobileDeviceUpdater" fix? That worked for me.

Sorry, Yaaz, I know how frustrating it is to spend money on something that doesn't work like you wish it would. Is the software on the laptop you're try to connect to all updated? Maybe take it to an Apple store with the laptop and see if they can figure it out.

Sorry but these solutions don’t work. It seems to have an issue between iPhone 12 and old Mac like MacBook Pro 2010 that cannot have the latest iTunes update 🙁 Or not a port USB enough recent ?

Yes I will use the Apple Music trial to transfer my files. Hope it works !

You can try reinstalling iTunes 12.8.2.3 while your device is connected and unlocked. You can also reboot and retry.
