Iphone 12 / High Sierra / Itunes 12.8.2.3

So I have High Sierra and Itunes 12.8.2.3

Just bought an iphone 12.

Backed up the older phone through itunes.

Iphone 12 is not seen by itunes.

I do not get the "TRUST THIS COMPUTER" signal when you connect through USB

Changed cables, changed ports

I can't upgrade Itunes as that is the newest version

Don't want to upgrade MacOS

My imac doesn't have USB-C

I don't think I can backup with itunes.

Any other suggestions?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

If you've not already do so try this approach. In Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

At the end I finally managed it to work. Basically I plugged the Iphone, unlock it, open the finder, clicked on Preferences, clicked on the sidebar menu, unchecked the CD,DVDs, iPod(in somecase is CS,DVDs, iOS devices) waited a few seconds, checked it again and it work. I honestly don't know if it work for this because I have follow your advice but nothing happened, but after this it worked straight away. Thank you.

Hello aamsergie,

It sounds like you're needing help to get your Mac recognizing your iPhone 12.

For help getting your Mac to recognize the device, take a look at the steps in this article for help: Locate and view your connected device on your computer

If you're still unable to see your device, we'd recommend trying the steps listed here: If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Additionally, if you are running iOS 11 or later on your old iPhone, you can use Quick Start to transfer data as shown in this link: Transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

This should help to get that data transferred over, but feel free to reach back out to the Community if you need further help.

Take care!
