iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

Lots of people in Korea have this problem too, I just hope that it can be solved by software update.

When I boot up my iphone 12pro, and when I watch dark video especially including black color, the OLED doesn't show me the complete black color. I really hope that it is just a software bug and can be fixed by software update.

So I had a call back from Apple today and they have confirmed they are aware of the issue and are currently investigating as they have had many reports about it, at the moment they are unsure if its fixable in software or if they will need to launch an Apple Service Program he was also aware that the Mini and Pro Max also suffered when I mentioned it.

He did assure me they would not dodge the issue and to keep an eye on the usual places for updates or to contact them again if I had any questions.

Gotchya, I have contacted Apple myself and spoke to a Senior Advisor and raised the topic. I read an interesting theory that this could have something to do with MagSafe, as all the previous OLED iPhones do not have this issue on the latest iOS and therefore it would have to do something with a hardware change. Me personally, I hope it’s software related!

The panel in my max is in every condition better. No ugly yellow/green tint like the old 12 pro, absolutely no glowing at static pictures.

At the test with video https://youtu.be/AYtvehF9-Z8

the flickering is slitly there but much less on the max as on the normal 12. Backlight was around at 10 % backlight.

My speculation with two issues. The max has a panel from another manufacturer therefore the grey/green tint glowing is away. The flickering is maybe not a SW issue, but could been solved with SW.

I will stay with the Max. After two hours with it the iPhone SE (2020), the size of the SE (2020) seems to be like a iphone 5 because the max is realy big. I Believe in future I won‘t go back to an normal size.

I am very concerned of screen issues as well. I have an iphone X and the screen white and brightness is significantly better than my new 12 pro max (Regardless of any adjustments in the Accessability color tint section). I went into a store near me and their display was normal. They are sending me another but I can tell you for sure if it is the same issue I am returning it. Sad because I really wanted this phone. I will update if the new screen is normal.

Looking at the original picture when you compare iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone XS screens, you know where the green glow is, isn't this where the MagSafe magnets are located? Magnets could cause some interference and affect the screen, if this is the case then there's no way to fix that with iOS update, Apple will have to release new phones with some kind of shielding added...

I just got a call from Apple. The support staff has now received a message from the engineers that they are aware of the problem and are working on it at full speed. Whether software or hardware is still unclear. A software update will either be released or an exchange program will be offered on support.apple.com in the near future.

Just got my iPhone 12 pro max replaced by Apple, they gave me a replacement unit which they said was "Re-Manufactured" but Im assuming with how new the Pro Max's are that its essentially a Brand New iPhone.

Currently I dont see any screen grey flashing with Autobrightness disabled, even when the screen is in motion. I will report back if anything changes but very interesting in that it could be a hardware issue.
