iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

It’s definitely not green tint or glow problem there, but if you are okay woth it then just keep it. I would only go to apple to get it checked because it’s free and under warranty.

Guys I think it’s finally fixed on iOS 14.7.1🤯 I don’t know what they did but the green tint on blacks seems to be gone on my iPhone mini. Let’s hope it’s fixed and stays this way for everyone 🙏🏻

Same. Screen keeps turning on with a light green/gray when it should be totally black. Noticeable in the dark when viewing a photo; the black bars around the photo light up in a weird way that didn’t happen on my iPhone X.

Yep can confirm I am experiencing this on my iPhone 12 Pro created a case with Apple and they are going to escalate it...

Seems no point changing the device at the moment as the replacement will almost certainly have the issue too, hopefully it is software which I think it could be as OLED is mature enough to not have issues like this unless there is a very large number of faulty displays in the supply chain.

Im from india , facing the same issue , when the brightness is around 50% , the display turns yellowish, looks just like an LCD and after turning on full brightness, it works fine showing true blacks as we would expect in a OLED display.

Apple, this smells like BOE and possibly LG to me. Mate 20 Pro ringing anyone's bell? I have this issue and I'm not happy. I have a Note 20 Ultra here and under the same test it's PURE black and can't tell the screen is even on. I'm guessing the bill of goods has the display in the top 3 for cost, but you cannot skimp on display. It's what we look at all the time. Now I have $1000 phone with a screen that looks like an LCD from 2012. I hope you can deploy some video drivers for this in the next release, but I'm thinking it won't get fixed 100 percent by software. Prove us wrong Apple. This topic is growing in visibility as I write.

Not sure neither. I heard pro might uses panel from LG. And it's hard to forget that LG's panel results in a huge portion of Mate20 from Huawei having a green backlit flashing screen. That seems to be a very similar issue.

I think it depends on the return policy, wait until you can return it without any hassle, unless apple officially did something to solve the issue. I am planning to return it in 14 days if there is no new from apple then lol

Was in our MediaMarkt (german store/shop) today but couldn't compare the black level problem there because it's too bright there. But I was able to make the brightness completely dark once and completely bright once in the settings and switch off Truetone. What could be seen very clearly, regardless of whether compared to a 12 pro or a Max, on my display always the writing e.g. in the menu for SW there where 14.2 is always clearly darker !?

Either way, the display is not okay.

I have a return number and will send my iPhone back the next week. Next Saturday we will pick up a 12 pro max from the Apple Store. I hope that it is without errors. Think that the batch in the media market was good.

Also most likely the reason why HDR content doesn’t show this issue is because HDR increases the brightness of the screen automatically, and as the issue only occurs on low brightness this probably fixes the issue

i don’t think it’s a hardware issue neither. It seems way to widespread to have slipped through QA.

About the panels used there’s no confirmation on on which manufactures that are used for what devices. There’s contradicting post about it.

I’m having the same issue on my Pro Max, the brightness is not that great with auto brightness turned off. And also the screen is jumping to higher than the max allowed slider brightness at times, maybe a Ambient Light Sensor Issue. Also as I have noticed, a lot of people are experiencing a warmer than normal display, I too have experienced this. I don’t know what they have done to this years line up but looks like they’ve completely botched the display

Im not sure what they have done to this years panels, but seems more likely now that they could’ve run into more and more issues with their quality control due to the whole line up being OLED increasing the overall demand for the displays. The past three OLED iPhones displays have primarily been manufactured with Samsung so increasing the amount of manufacturers has seemed to have reduced the quality of the screens considerably.

From what I can tell, BOEs screens were rejected by Apples due to a problem with their quality. Though they might make an appearance on refurbished iPhone 12/12 pros later on.

They should’ve stuck to Samsung as the same problems had previously occurred with LG as you said. I can remember the problem with the Pixel 2.
