iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Interesting, I still experienced the issue when I upgraded to iOS 14.3 beta, pretty much no difference. I had many calls with Apple Support and they have no idea what’s going on, but got a Genius Bar appointment scheduled for tomorrow, so let’s see if the engineers know anything (I’m assuming not). It would be somewhat tolerable if it was only in static applications like photos and clock, but the fact that YouTube videos in 16:9 flicker quite severely is definitely not okay.

Agree! There is already a Chinese YouTube posted video and gained more than hundred thousands views on YouTube and five hundred thousand views on Chinese video platform. However, I haven’t seen any top English YouTuber say something. I really don’t know why or that’s something we all know but don’t say.

I have a brand new IPhone 12 ProMax, I noticed this the first night I had the phone. I think most people didn’t realize the issue until the 1st or 2nd night with the phone. The person I talked to at Apple Support was unaware of the issue.

My issue is screen related but different. When typing, my iPhone 12 Pro screen will randomly flicker and say I’m typing and hit the ‘y’ key; instead it will type the number 6 as if I’ve hit the ‘123’ button. Or i may type and other numbers come up eg 5 instead of ‘t’. Very annoying and so random. Anyone else having this issue?

happens alot more on whatsapp, probably because i use that a lot & twitter too.

my display is Samsung G9P which according to the web is not a good panel. I have yellow/brown tint and have the G9P manufactured 08/20

Hopefully not every iPhone 12 is affected. I have had one iPhone 12 Pro replaced for compass issues and I don't think that one had a green tint.

This problem occors most of the time. Sometimes it flickers. Definitely more noticeable in darker conditions with screen brightness down. Seems to happen worse on screen refreshes.

I just want a beautiful black oled screen to look at when I wake up in the middle of the night. Not a green glow burning my eyes. 😋

Seriously, please fix.

iPhone 12 pro max. I have the same issue! When my phone is full brightness the black stays pure black like the screen isn’t on, but when I turn the brightness down the black is gray instead. Am I going to have to replace this because I didn’t spend this much for a broken display.

Ohh ok yea you’re right it’s weird that apple allowed this to happen again. I don’t remember anyone complaining about this when the xs and those came out so I wonder what’s so different this time. And it seems true tome doesn’t have an effect?

I first noticed flashing in the black border when watching a YouTube video in full screen, then downloaded a black image, viewed it in the photos app, then noticed the screen wasn’t completely black immediately when doing full screen.

Issue doesn’t occur at 100% brightness as others have mentioned.

I have no green tint, but black is like LCD black - it is not real black, as it should be wenn you have OLED display

apple, the issue should be addressed, I guess I should stop preorder things and just wait for reviews 🤷‍♂️

My iPhone 12 Pro 256 gb pacific blue (Purchasing in Mexico) have an issue in display , flickering giving a ‘grey glow’ in the dark compared to my iPhone X, where the screen is completely black just the way an OLED display should be. It’s a software or hardware issue? I’m on iOS 14.2.1

at first i noticed the yellow tint compared to my iPhone X and now i've noticed that too , it happens not to often and you have to be in complete darkness to see it, but it's not tolerable for a 1609 euros phone .. so i dunno what to do cos i'm sure most of them if not all them are plagued by this issue, i do not want to subscribe to Applecare +, do you guys it's not necessary cos either way apple will fix the issue via software or do a recall ?

my wife iphone XS MAX has pure blacks.... but when you turn up/down the volume there is a light shadow of the volume slider across the screen. Looks terrible , like a cheap LCD screen. So both phones XS MAX and 12 PM has issues on 14.2.1 . Hope Apple will resolve this issue soon

Sorry but how can I believe that they actually have a software fix coming when they said nothing official for a month now.

On a scale where every single iPhone 12 is affected they should at least say if it's software or hardware issue and give us an estimate when it's going to be fixed. Otherwise they're just delaying/ignoring the issue so people that are unaware will still buy the faulty iPhones...
