iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

Lots of people in Korea have this problem too, I just hope that it can be solved by software update.

When I boot up my iphone 12pro, and when I watch dark video especially including black color, the OLED doesn't show me the complete black color. I really hope that it is just a software bug and can be fixed by software update.

little edit , did u try to be in a pitch black room with zero light sources and check a black wallpaper for example in the photos app and moving brightness to be sure your mdel is perfect ? when u boot it in a pitch black room after a little time when the apple logo appears don't u see the gray screen for a few seconds then it snaps back to pure black...

thanks , btw guys for those havinh the issue , i phone them again and they do not have much feedback from customers or enough to make an urgent patch , u need to call them explain the issue, i run a disagnostic, i've sent her the pictures taken in the dark , and this link, and she told me that for an issue to be resolved , they have to get by phone feedback from consumer to be able to make a cade number and the more theu have the more chances apple will do something quick . so please take 1 hour to contact them .

with PrakashParis , i dunno what to do , maybe you were lucky... and the thing is still there.. or do you advise me to return mine and buy a new one again ?

when did u bought it ? it was on apple.com i guess ? ( btw are u from France like me ? )

no i'm quite positive it is software, but they could have resolved the issue on the newer units , it is not hardware otherwise the gray flicker would appear at every level of brightness.

but apple could have tweak something to the most recent units to not having this issue...

but do not stress if u cannot send back your phone, but please as i said phone to apple and take time to explain the issue with a tech support , cos the more reports they'll have , the more apple will act on it. and unfortunately they do not monitor these threads like this one at all.

@Prakashparis, the theory of "latest batch" rectifying the issue is false.

I asked on this forum(Page 82) and on macrumors about the latest 2021 January manufactured devices, and if they are still facing this issue.

And as expected they are facing the issue on these latest manufactured devices.

On Macrumours one person has received 3 iPhones manufactured in 3rd week January 2021 and all of them has raised black issue.

i have ordered 2 brand new iphone 12 pro max to see if this is true , i dunno what to do , do i cancel both and wait for the software updates, or do a try and see for myself.. at least you 'll have more data.. cos each time i gave here the first 2 serial number and the production week .. i'm at my 5th iphone 12 pro max... 2 are coming on tuesday.. it's true that it is suprising but maybe Apple found the thing that does this and rectify it on the poduction line.... i dunno i'm a bit lost..

@angealexiel

If you have an option to return the device, then I would suggest you to not cancel the order and see it for yourself, what if you get lucky and receive a perfect unit.

No, Apple hasn't found the magic bullet yet for this issue, if that would have been true the latest 2021 production batch shouldn't have the issue and as I have mentioned that's not the case after checking it on multiple forums. Unfortunately, it is still a panel lottery.

As you have said you are on your 5th device, so you have raised black issue on all 5 of them?

Do post the new devices production week, that you will receive on Tuesday, that way we will have more data to reach some conclusions.

Guys Lets end the conversation here, it has been confirmed as a hardware issue by Apple itself. I was in touch with a YouTuber who had the same raised black and green tint issue. In his country which is India you cannot replace the device and only get it repaired. He sent his phone to two APPLE engineering teams. They identified this issue as a hardware issue and got his screen replaced. And now his screen is absolutely perfect!

Feb 7, 2021 3:56 AM in response to Dhakkku

I agree @Dhakku, it’s a hardware issue. We must stop believing what Apple Advisors are sayin on the chat support, that it’s only a software issue and is going to be fixed via updates. I don’t believe that. It has been over four months now and it seems that the said fix via software update would not come, same as what happened to OnePlus lol.

two days ago I was back in the apple store in Italy, they know the problem but they are absolutely forbidden to replace or repair it unless the iphone diagnosis signals the problem or unless apple does not declare that the problem is hardware .. they not replace it and tell you to wait for updates .. in my opinion the problem is not sotware but I can only wait because you can't do anything in italy

I really wonder if Steve Jobs never passed away. The products that were released during his time as CEO are almost perfect and much affordable than what it is now. He addresses every problems and setup press conference to answer each problem with good reasons why. Ever since iPhone 6, everything gets messy and ever-so-pricey under Tim Cook. He's the real for profit only CEO, riding on previous successes under Jobs.

This thread, 84 pages and on, never once answered by a community administrator. They clearly are downplaying to not affect their stock prices. There are many more issues and they are not addressing them. Imagine having $200B in reserves and can't even get themselves fix the **** issues in a timely manner. They release iOS updates like pizza in a conveyor belt. They even angered developers when they release iOS 14 at one day's notice. Clearly it's because the Apple Watch Series 6 would be released the following Friday. Once again, a move for profit.

I'm really rooting for Apple to be the best in hardware/software/services integration. Right now, when I see any Apple product or services, I would immediately think they're buggy (especially the first versions) and I don't want to pay them to be a "beta tester". I hope they start to really innovate, not just on some, but as a whole. Stop putting more money into marketing with alot of disclaimers.
