iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

Lots of people in Korea have this problem too, I just hope that it can be solved by software update.

When I boot up my iphone 12pro, and when I watch dark video especially including black color, the OLED doesn't show me the complete black color. I really hope that it is just a software bug and can be fixed by software update.

personally no no issue when the screen dims after 1 minute on both iPhone 12 pro max i have... maybe u should restore the phone?

I was wondering something , did most of us who have these issues ordered only the new blue navy pro or pro max ??

cos i thought maybe apple knew that like the 11 the color that was new , was gonna be the best seller, and maybe they put their lowest quality screens on these, maybe if i would have ordered a black iphone, or a gold one the issue would be 100% fixed even on videos ?? cos some ppl says that the issue is 100% fixed even on videos...

can we get some feedback on this ?

just out of curiousity ...

thx for your post @sagargrandhi

it's quite interesting that by restoring the Os, the problem dissapeard... cos officialy it has been fixed only on IOS public beta 145 beta 2... so that's why i was wondering, maybe i should try to order a graphite one to see.. i've placed 2 other orders... i guess that would make 11 iphone 12 pro max bought and returned... i think there is a possibilty that the Blue ones got the lesser quality displays...

does anyone else can tell us their color of iphone pro , max, mini and what problem u had like yeelow tinit, geen tint flicker or gray tint flicker? i have two iphone 12 pro max ( blue ) im' gonna try to erase all, content on one, and check if the issue is mitigated , cos it's still there on some videos.. and the issue can be reproduced but differently depending on the video app i used . but they have pretty much the same bahaviour, one who start with G0 have a lesser yellow tint.

12 pro graphite here.

I have the raised blacks / slight green tint issue.

I don’t think the chassy color has anything to do… I thing you are overthinking and also… the people that are ordering and returning phones like crazy…

I think we should wait for future iOS betas and share our progress. And that’s it.

I think that the problem is present in a high percentage of the phones but only some of us are perfectionist and see it.

I don’t think they’re doing it so apple knows about the problem… the’re doing it to see if they’re lucky enough to land a perfect one. 9 phones returned are irrelevant to the total volume of sales…

I think that after 3 replacement units it’s pretty obvious that almost every phone has the issue.

You are right, it’s unnaceptable, I was just saying that some people in the thread are overthinking and they obfuscate the useful posts.

Also, the screen is able to represent true black… with 100 perc brightness. I think the problem is in either the hdr support or the screen controllers. I hope they get their sh**t toghether and give us a solution.

okay so apple sent me a mail after i posted just regular talk without being offesnive .. so i do not get why ,

but to recap what i was saying, i would never had ordered so much iphones since it's release day one, if Apple Aknowledged the issue and made an open letter about it, but when reading threads or videos on youtube some testify that they do not have the issue, so each time i ordered one, i was hoping to get a perfect unit.

If Apple would have been release an open letter near the end of november saying yup there is a issue in some iphones 12 display and we will fix it . i would have never done that..

@PrakashParis

I think it is because of just my theroy abnout different displays quality being assembled depending on the color on the pro max.. maybe it souded like a weird theory, but i was just curious cos i'm pretty positive most of us have a blue pro or pro max iphone..

they just said this

@marcpodi

i didn't had the idea to take a screenshot on the halo effect when changing volume on youtube, but it is buggy it flickers, and to be honest i think we all agree it's more annoying than pleasing to the eyes...

And I see some videos about upgrading iOS 14.5 beta 2 and it doesn’t fix all, it’s just have less time with the gray screen but it’s not solved totally. I just keep thinking that’s about a hardware problem and Apple just says that can fix it in iOS, and in next year fix this phone with display replace, like the noise in AirPods Pro the last year. That you cloud change your AirPods Pro if you hear electric noise.

I have a friend who have a iPhone 12 and her screen shows perfectly, due to that I thought that it’s a hardware problem and I went to Apple Genius Bar.

Hope your problem could be solved, good luck 👍

Went to apple store again and was told they have to follow protocol before swapping out my phone. So we did another software reset directly through the computer which did not resolve issue. The next step was to replace the screen and not the entire phone. Took about two and a half hours, but I can confirm that the new screen fixed the problem of the green tint. No more tint or flashing on black screens at any brightness levels, at least so far. I am on ios 14.4. This leads me to believe it is a hardware issue. Hope this helps
