iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

Lots of people in Korea have this problem too, I just hope that it can be solved by software update.

When I boot up my iphone 12pro, and when I watch dark video especially including black color, the OLED doesn't show me the complete black color. I really hope that it is just a software bug and can be fixed by software update.

So i've just got less than an hour ago My 9th and 10 th Iphone 12 pro max, bth starts with G0.. and end with D5C like all F2 and G0 Iphones 12 PM i've had since, i've entered their serial in the german website, and it's weird cos they are both coming from week 48... all the others 7 iphones from januray to today were from week 51 or 52... ( exept the first one who was preordered and i do not have data about this one ).

both have the same yellow tint and on 14.2 not even the latest version .. so i download the public beta profile and both are downloading 2 times 5 Gb of data for the update, i've noticed that one while booting both out of the box in pitch. black room have a stronger gray flicker on boot screen than the other one. so i think i already know the one i'll keep... but i'll test both of these a lot tonight and tomorow. i'll come back to see if i notice a change about the gray flicker which still appears on most video apps but each app behave differently with it... for TV app i've noticed the best way is to flip the phone in landscape on a paused black transistion watching a video.. for other apps like youtube the video is fine but not the black bars to the side who flickers a bit when changing brightness... it's a really strange bug. i'm really surprised i got older iphone 12 pro max from week 48 when all the other i got were made 2 or 3 weeks later... can they be refurbished ?? impossible to know i guess...

I posted earlier about getting my screen rrplaced and the issue being fixed. It was fine the first day, but last night in the dark I noticed the issue was still there are certain brightness levels. It is definitely not as bad as before, however it is still there. It even flashes when watching youtube on black screens still.

Yup, this is how I see it too. The problem is still there but kinda very low but still noticeable. I actually thought it was already fixed but then I saw it again but in very very faint glow. It seems they trying to hide it rather than fix it.

Now I reported it again to Apple Support. They will call me in a few mins or so. I asked them to replace my screen protector since they never fix it in the first place. See where it'll end up.

the best way to see it for example is to pause a video on a black screen on TV app in pitch black room and u flip the phone in landscape upside down, each time i do it with both new phones like others even on beta 2 i still got the flicker for a spli second, on other times yes i'll see it on black video when control center dissapear but sometimes it doesn't flicker and stays for a bit... but as i said it is reallt weird cos depending on the app you watch video the issue is different and the way to reproduce it is too . for example youtube is mainly fixed, except the hao effect with volume slider who seems to be a design choice, but on youtube sometimes you'll see the black bars on the sides flickering a bit a brightness under 50% when changing it . the only app i've found were despite all my efforts on all iphones 12 pro max i got at home is VLC , i copied a movie on it and despite moving brightness , switching the phone display by turning the phone , and nothing appears ... so i dunno if it's software or hardware .. it is really hard to know for sure... we will see with 14.5 final release as Apple finaly after 5 months recognize there is an issue...

Same as mine, I tested they tried hard to fix the issue but unfortunately it still there…. Playing YouTube with flickering on the dark background like crazy (I think it get worst on mine) , still raise black on the black background (when preview image or in the apps). Btw, in clock apps they fixed hahahaa. The background show pure black 🤪

I have an update.

Few weeks back I posted about my iPhone 12 Pro being serviced by a certified Apple service provider (iDeal) regarding the raised blacks issue and flickering in videos. Back then I got my device back with the official response from them that this is a software issue and that Apple is working on a fix. My device was running iOS 14.4 and like everybody else blacks were being lit up and turned to black again few secs later, also when watching a completely black Youtube video the screen was flickering gray-black.

Then I got frustrated and sold my phone few days after it was back from the service provider. Now reading that this indeed might be fixable with software I wanted to give Apple one more chance.

2 days ago I purchased a brand new blue iPhone 12 Pro Max (not Pro). Today I did the setup and automatically updated to iOS 14.4. After the setup was complete ofc I immediately wanted to see if the problem is there and TO MY SURPRISE there is absolutely no issues with the display!!!

The blacks are absolutely black (pixels off) at every brightness setting! The videos are not flickering anymore in Youtube and are completely black!

I dont know if this has anything to do with this being the Pro Max and not the Pro but Im 100% confirming that the display is absolutely without flaws running iOS 14.4.

This makes me think that the service provider was lying and that this indeed is a hardware defect because my Pro was purchased right at launch day.

It's already been explained numerous times why some see green tint and why it bugs some like me. Here is link again for explanation basically poor QA quality control at factory!

"If your OCD is going to get triggered upon spotting the green tint once

in a while, while using the OnePlus Nord, this might seem like an issue

to you. For everyone else, the green tint is not visible while using the

phone regularly on a day to basis or while consuming content on the

display so this should not be a deal-breaker. If you are lucky, your

unit of the OnePlus Nord may not even have a tint if the display was

manufactured with precision. It’s not a problem per se, it’s just a bi-product of the complex manufacturing process."

My iphone 12 pro has a Samsung display while my sister's iphone 12 has an LG display, I have green tint and flickering while my sister has perfect blacks in videos and no green tint! My iphone was produced in October and I believe that, as mentioned in the last few posts, the displays produced in the last few weeks are better than those of a few months ago! Apple is trying to soften the flaws of early displays with software patches, I suppose

Remember to check it after few days, As mentioned in an earlier posts that initially the replaced screen seems to be perfect but after a while they have noticed the "raised blacks".

If the spare screens are from the defective batch then replacing the screen won't solve this issue.

I know couple of people who got the screen replaced and they can still notice the "raised blacks", hence I decided to hold back and see how things unfolds in future.
