iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

Lots of people in Korea have this problem too, I just hope that it can be solved by software update.

When I boot up my iphone 12pro, and when I watch dark video especially including black color, the OLED doesn't show me the complete black color. I really hope that it is just a software bug and can be fixed by software update.

You are lucky to get fixed. But all of us aren’t. I never had the green tint issue i had this dim glow. Anyway its not fixed in mine. I have another issue in my phone. There is a whitish spot on my screen if i look it off axis but if i look straight its not there. Its there from since I bought it. Does anyone knows what it is. My brother bought the phone from UAE and he did not check it well and i never had this problem so i did not ask him to check that also. About tint i knew 12 series have it and hoped apple will fix it and trusting apple bought it. But this spot please someone let me know what it is

I see this green line always but only if I open the YouTube application on my iPhone 12 pro and start a dark video, and increase or decrease the volume .. when the volume bar appears this green line appears that I hate .. more increase the brightness and more you can see .. for the rest I have no problem with green tint but only the classic yellow calibration of this year's iPhones that we all have .. if I open YouTube from safari the problem is not there because the volume bar has a different graphical interface .. I don't understand if it's a bug on all iPhones because it's a YouTube bug or just mine.

Whomsoever said that green tint has been fixed for them in latest 14.5, can you check in the same way as shown in the above quote.

Let us know, if you can replicate it.

Yep. They did and said everything is alright. But you can’t diagnose this type of problem by online. And guy with iPhone 12 Pro who has the same problem went to Apple Center and they registered his problem but said maybe it’s normal, said same to me and asking for further self diagnose...

Yep, my girlfriend didn’t even noticed that before I showed it to her, now she sees this glowing everywhere too.) Probably most of people just think it’s normal OLED behavior. I contacted my country support and they take this problem on some force control or something. I’m really hope it can be fixed by software. Right now it’s uncomfortable to watch movies at dark room — my black colors either blinking or shows as dark grey.

Yep can confirm I am experiencing this on my iPhone 12 Pro created a case with Apple and they are going to escalate it...

Seems no point changing the device at the moment as the replacement will almost certainly have the issue too, hopefully it is software which I think it could be as OLED is mature enough to not have issues like this unless there is a very large number of faulty displays in the supply chain.

The yellow/brownish tint and reduced contrast are not as bad with True Tone turned off. But, it is still noticeable compared to iPhone X/XS. Unfortunately, personnel in our local Apple store is not very knowledgeable. They “didn’t have time” to run a test. So, I returned the whole unit. I’ll wait until problems are solved. No need to settle for a workaround with a >$1k phone!

I have the same issue. This is my 2nd iPhone 12 Pro, the first one was returned because of another flaw that these models are exhibiting with the yellow tint. The replacement, received on 11/6, also has the yellow tint albeit marginally better however the raised black levels are pretty noticeable especially in a dark room. Both units were manufactured in week 40 production. This is unfortunate and I really can’t deal with repeated returns now as the original was purchased through T-Mobile online.

HDR videos shows black color as it should be. But still, HDR video must have full iPhone 12 resolution, otherwise it will have blinking borders like in SDR video.

When I started this topic — YouTube didn’t support HDR videos for iPhone 12.

We all have to wait for the next iOS update.

I have this issue too and it’s annoying.

I went to Genius Bar today and they ran diagnostics to the display. Everything came out passed. The specialist told me that if its a software issue, try to reset the phone and setup as new, do not restore from backup. Turn off true-tone. She set me up for a phone call on Thursday to check whether it solves the issue.

But actually I don’t think my backup interferes with system files or any hardware configuration. Its just a standard procedure to ask us to do when they do not have any advised solution.
