iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

SO after getting two brand new iphone 12 pro max, after ordering Like 9 models , i can confirm all fot this weird LCD like screen in pitch black room on a blakc wallappaer in full screen in photos apps ( to reproduce the issue easily ) or even by jut booting each phones out of the box in my bathroom with no lights on , ( you see this grey flicker...

I got 2 12 pro max today starting with F2 week 51 of production, like most of the ones i got , it's way better than the last one i got starting with G0... the issue is still present but barely visible specialy on one model + no yellow tint...

So i send pics to apple, and they confirmed to me THAT THEY DO NOT READ THESE FORUMS... AT ALL...

if u cant this minor issue ( in their opinion and i agree ) to be fixed , you need to call them and spend 30 min or 1 hour max with tech support and explain them all of this.. issue is software cos it never happen with brigthness at 100% and when the phone boot at first, the screen is perfect , you see the apple logo and then the grey flicker comes for a few seconds, it means that so cores components that initialize when booting up like all the sensor in the notch must be causing a little software bug that most ppl do not see.

they do have enough reports of this specific issue.. if all the people here were to call them maybe they'll will really look into the issue.. i've send pictures to them, spent some time with them, and it's the only solution for a fix to be coming ASAP.

hope most of you will calll them . otherwise they may fix it when 13 is released..

The problem with Lock screen "backlighting" ONLY appears when Do Not Disturb is active and ONLY depends on it.

Once Do Nit Disturb is off, there is my pitch-black Lock screen. Other settings including TrueTone, Brightness level, Auto-Brightness, Night Shift and Dark Mode in any combinations do not affect this.

I'd say that the bug is caused by Do Not Disturb Lock Screen sticky message, although the screen-tint is present even when the message is dismissed.

I have worked out a solution for screen flickering when brightness <90% on IOS black wallpaper or any video black edge.

go to settings - accessibility - Display&Text size and turn off the auto brightness.

I feel it’s a bug from IOS but there is a possibility that light sensor is not working properly.

thanks , btw guys for those havinh the issue , i phone them again and they do not have much feedback from customers or enough to make an urgent patch , u need to call them explain the issue, i run a disagnostic, i've sent her the pictures taken in the dark , and this link, and she told me that for an issue to be resolved , they have to get by phone feedback from consumer to be able to make a cade number and the more theu have the more chances apple will do something quick . so please take 1 hour to contact them .

with PrakashParis , i dunno what to do , maybe you were lucky... and the thing is still there.. or do you advise me to return mine and buy a new one again ?

when did u bought it ? it was on apple.com i guess ? ( btw are u from France like me ? )

no i'm quite positive it is software, but they could have resolved the issue on the newer units , it is not hardware otherwise the gray flicker would appear at every level of brightness.

but apple could have tweak something to the most recent units to not having this issue...

but do not stress if u cannot send back your phone, but please as i said phone to apple and take time to explain the issue with a tech support , cos the more reports they'll have , the more apple will act on it. and unfortunately they do not monitor these threads like this one at all.

Guys Lets end the conversation here, it has been confirmed as a hardware issue by Apple itself. I was in touch with a YouTuber who had the same raised black and green tint issue. In his country which is India you cannot replace the device and only get it repaired. He sent his phone to two APPLE engineering teams. They identified this issue as a hardware issue and got his screen replaced. And now his screen is absolutely perfect!

Guys I don't know if the green tint problem is related to another problem I encountered .. having applied a dark background I saw the Clock application frame not black as it should be but gray, all off after applying a completely blue background magically the frame of the Clock app, as well as the black of the voice memo app, has turned black again as it should be .. i can't explain it but it's like there is a problem with dark backgrounds and pixels going crazy and they don't understand if they must go out or not

Update from my side:

I‘ve got my 7. iPhone 12 Pro this Friday with F17... SN and production week CW02 2021.

Still raised blacks, flickering when playing back movies with black content, but no green tint. The whitepoint and grey looks better to me than on my „old“ iPhone 12 Pro.

So in my opinion the raised blacks are definetly an software issue, because I‘ve never saw an perfect iPhone 12 Pro without raised blacks.

can u try something to me , on the phone where u do not have any flicker, but not on videos, simple test , go in a pitch black room, start an TV show with the official apple TV app, when the show start press pausewhen screen is still black at 0:0 ty to change brightness once or twice , and maybe like me u won't see the flicker , cos on this app this doesn't happen each time, but weirdly enough i you flip the phone upside down while paused in landscape , i still 90% of the time have the grey flicker for a split second... so this issues seems related to the gyroscope, cos even without changing brigthness , most of time when u flip the phone like 10 times from having the notch on the right to having it on the left , the grey flicker will appear... i would be very interested if u can test this . thx a lot.

I have this issue too and it’s annoying.

I went to Genius Bar today and they ran diagnostics to the display. Everything came out passed. The specialist told me that if its a software issue, try to reset the phone and setup as new, do not restore from backup. Turn off true-tone. She set me up for a phone call on Thursday to check whether it solves the issue.

But actually I don’t think my backup interferes with system files or any hardware configuration. Its just a standard procedure to ask us to do when they do not have any advised solution.
