iPhone 12 Pro Ringer adjustment issue

I have been using iPhone 12 Pro for weeks, just noticed issue with Ringer adjustment issue using volume button. It doesn’t work, I had to go to Settings->Sounds & Haptics->Ringer & Alerts to increase or decrease the ringing volume. Also, I noticed very recently after loading my audio collection that music playing on full volume with no sound output this happened occasionally.

please let me know if there are any solution for ringer adjustments.

I’ve been wondering why my volume buttons aren’t working on my iPhone and by accident I just realised they seem to be controlling the volume on my HomePod linked to AppleTV. Nothing in AirPlay and cannot work out how to make the volume buttons work for the actual phone. Any chance you are connected to another Bluetooth or airplay device?

this is affecting 3rd party apps and everything. BBC Sounds, Apple Music, Shazam, everything

Hello Vadivelur,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that you are having to adjust the ringer volume in the Settings. Are you able to adjust the sound of the ringer volume from the Control Center or from your headphones?

I had the same problem and found this website helped me out: https://www.howtogeek.com/328610/how-to-control-both-ringer-and-system-volume-with-the-iphones-volume-buttons/ I think I t’s simply that you need to toggle the switch on the ‘Change with buttons” option in Settings > Sound & Haptics (scroll down to find this option). I hope this helps.

Delme is spot on!!

If you have this problem and also have Apple TV or HomePod etc then the volume / switch button issue will be due to a glitch in the last pairing.

It can be tricky to sort out which device pairing is causing the problem so easiest fix is ... embarrassingly ... turn phone off and on again.

After this the audio settings on my phone work perfectly again.

I had an issue where even with the correct settings my volume keys didn’t change the ringer volume at the Home Screen. I figured out it was because my phone was charging. When I unplugged the charger it worked fine. I didn’t put it together immediately because I only did it before I went to sleep and right when I woke up, both times my phone is on the charger. Hopefully it’s something simple like that.
